Yeah, but I am not too anxious to put paint on tanks with living specimens already in them, lol!!! Besides, I really don't want to ruin the tank if I ever needed to sell it off.....like if I ever get the chance to upgrade my snakes to Vision cages, or a melamine rack system for breeding.
Yes, Tommy....I don't have to rearrange the reptiles this time, LOL!!!
Nice!!! I thought of doing that, but went with the construction paper. This is actually cheaper than aquarium backdrops. It cost $5 for 25 sheets of 12 x 12 black construction paper, and I did 6 enclosures with that.
Thanks Tommy!!! All my tanks are going to get this treatment.....I think it looks spectacular!!! Look for a new update on my critter room once I get it finished....
I got this idea from www.ball-pythons.net
This tutorial is on blackening the sides of glass aquarium / vivarium setups. Just because it comes from the herping world does not lessen its value in other applications. Cheap, easy, and attractive for ANY enclosure or setup you may have.
The simple...
This thread is quite humorous, and seemingly full-circle for me, lol!!!
First, you should never EVER go after a T bare-handed. Just because you can does not mean that animal will let you get away with it every single time. As I stated before, get your T in a cup when removing it from the...
Freehandle her!!! Right away!!!!!! ;P
If you have a defensive T, keep in mind it's like talking to a hot girl: She's really not a you-know-what.....she's just one to you!!! Don't take it personally....it's how they are.
The first thing you probably should know, is how to manipulate and...
You took the words right out of my mouth, Tommy!!! {D
I'd definitely suggest Avics as an experience that keepers should have sooner, rather than later.
There really is no "Set Path" for you to walk in this hobby. Any T (except the S. cal, and some care-specific species) would be fine for...
Some of my T's.......
Avic avic - "Eva" (my adult female) & "3 AM" (my MM)
A. versicolor - "Sakura" (meaning: Cherry-Blossom)
B. smithi - "Jasmine"
G. pulchripes - "Se7en" (she was missing a leg when I got her)
G. rosea - "Charlotte" (my first T) & "Anabelle"
L. parahybana - "Cassandra"...
Don't mind us........this is just the Standard Newbie Greeting:
Now that you've been officially welcomed to the boards, here are the first faces of your future addiction.
Pick one, get BOTH!!!!!
Welcome to the addiction!!!!!
Pics for clarification, and re-defining a "climbing" terrestrial, LOL!!!
Remember, behavior and temperament are up to the individual spider. Mine started as a burrower, then became a "climber." I wouldn't call it "climbing" in the arboreal sense......it was more like "Perching." The branch I...
Hey, Warren......I think you meant to say either "Acclimated to," or "Accustomed to," LOL!!! Don't worry, you did get your idea across.......
+1
It took about a month for me to fully make the conversion to roaches. My slings were the easiest to get started, but my Avic avic took forever to take...
The Switchover Phenomenon is not really a recent trend......arboreal species have ALWAYS been popular with keepers. Like someone just said, people often start with a Rosie, or something readily available at an LPS. Then they move to Avics, and it's all downhill (or up a tree) from there...
Semi-arboreal is considerably different, IMHO. I just cover all my bases in one tank. Deep hide, climbing, and floor room....not much to it.
Sadly, my OBT died some time ago. However, I had my C. fasciatum for about a year. He was 3/4" when I got him, and matured at about 3.5" or so.
Wow, I just now saw this thread......
Good job!!!
As a fellow Avic-lover (and aspiring breeder), it makes me very happy to see more of this sp. coming into the hobby.
Good luck with those sacs, PIG!!!
:p
How big is your LP??? Male? Fem? Unsexed???
Depending on the sex and size of your LP, that 20-gallon may be too large. Though I do like larger-than-required enclosures, only my females will get them, and only if it's size appropriate for the species and the activity-level of individual to be...
