    looks very very much like a huntsman, i'd say 100% huntsman, but as to the specifics... my fist instinct was Holconia sp (australian huntsman) but on closer inspection of the carapace, i'd say its just a fat H. venatoria

    arboreal that falls

    it shouldn't be a problem for an avic, as for the reason its falling... is it due a moult? usually their grip lessens shortly before moulting. avics are designed to be able to withstand a greater fall than terrestrial species so i wouldn't worry at all

    I kno thw range starts in Europe and they are found in New Zealand too (Uliodon sp) so it would seem likely that you have them there, looks almost identical to Zoropsis spinimana, but they are arboreal

    could be a phantom sac 'gone wrong' as many species will produce eggs if well fed enough depite not being mated, usually if it is made properly they will then eat it several days later.
