I think it depends on the individual tarantula. I have a obt that has never produced a threat posture and is very docile. On the other hand I have a Brachypelma hamorii and a Idiothele mira that will strike and threat posture just for changing there water bowl.
How come? Do you think I should remove them? The last thing I want is for any of them to be eaten. I was under the impression that these could live communal.
Just picked up these little guys today. Going to set up a Poecilotheria metallica communal. I already have a 3 inch juvenile male, who won't be joining them . So fingers crossed there's a female amongst this lot so I can have a future breeding project.

I keep my female sub adult in a 10in tall biscuit tub with about 3 inchs of substrate and a cork tube for her hide. I also fill the cork tube with about 3-4 inchs of substrate.
I would definitely agree with keeping slings in small vials until at least an inch. These are the type of vials I use. I think they are ideal because these offer just a little bit more room but not too much. Not saying the vials they arrive in aren't perfect because they are. My Caribena...
