Customer of mine found this little guy at a construction site, since I work at a pet store he wanted someone good with animals to take care of him. I accepted the offer and began researching the topic. Found that they should be fed moistened dog food when they are little like this one is, but...
So the question then becomes - are horned frogs nocturnal?
Well even that isn't the question because realistically, even if they aren't (I don't think they are nocturnal) they cover 95% of their body with substrate/dirt, so there is little skin to absorb the UVB.
Oh well, I used it on my...
Hi guys, not sure if this question is appropriate in this forum, forgive me.
Anyways, more than a year ago a poster on AB posted a picture of him (I believe it was a man) holding his massive G. aureostriata, the legspan had to have been at least 8", more than likely 9+. I remember in the...
To the best of my knowledge pretty much all pac albinos are cranwelli (cranwell's) horned frogs.
The fantasy frogs = cranwelli x ornata
Cornuta x cranwelli/ornata are not as popular, but have been bred before.
Thanks for the offer Crotalus!
Questions I have -
Basic diet?
Basic description of his cage setup?
Are they friendly or do they tend to be skittish?
Do they bite?
Do they smell particularly bad?
Thanks!
I am so on board with getting one as well but the only reason I haven't is because I have heard their waste/tank smells HORRIBLE from a friend who has one, is this just improper diet or a common thing?
Not a whole lot of info out there about keeping them in captivity. I hear they are social and whatnot, but have never seen one for sale (then again I am in CA where at least many of the species are native and thus illegal).
Any info?
I would bring hand santizing wipes and the liquid sanitizer and have them use it after handling him even if there is no defensive liquid released. If there is, it is only harmful if put into eyes or mouth, in which case I will have them wash their hands pronto.
Oh, and yes, I was planning...
Hey guys, I am going to be starting showing animals at bday parties and whatnot once in a while and was hoping to get some suggestions on what to bring. I have a little bit of a list compiled already, here is what I have come up with -
Black millipede (and/or Tanzanian Red Leg)
Tarantula...
I did a lot of research on them but ended up deciding not to get them because -
1. Need a big tank, good filtration, protein skimmer.
2. Can't really put anything in there with them.
3. If they ink, oh boy you got your work cut out for ya.
4. Don't even ask what happens when...
I stand corrected, what I was getting at though was that most of the imported species are indeed from Africa as those are the most appealing to most hobbists
