I'm on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.
How did you find them? Blacklighting? I'd be really keen to find scorps in my area... I know they're around, but I've never found any myself
It's actually Pholcus phalangioides... or the "Daddy long legs spider" - so it's different to the "daddy long legs" (harvestmen) most of you guys know :D
Down-Under: Where'd you get him/her from? Looks nice...
Hey mate,
I live in Sydney and kept a U. yaschenkoi in captivity for 3 years, if you want to add me to MSN (Menthu_Rae @ hotmail.com) I can give you all the tips/info you need :)
In answer to your questions, here's a basic rundown for what I did with this species:
* Fed every 2-4 weeks...
Hey everyone,
My Urodacus yaschenkoi finally met its end... after 2.5yrs of owning it in captivity, and 6 months ownership by my friend before me... and whoever knows how long in the wild...
I assume it died from old age, however there are some anomalies with 2 of its legs... hoping...

I had one of these, but unfortunately it died after less than a week since capture =(
It was actually found in my local suburb! Avalon, on the Northern Beaches of Sydney!!!!
Anyway I suggest you keep it in the same kind of habitat as what's found in the bush around Sydney - that is...
Hey guys,
I've got one of my computers set up next to my scorpion tank (about 6" away from it)... it's not super noisy or anything - but the fans do make audible noise...
I'm worried whether the vibration and noise would be stressing the scorpion? It would only be very slight vibration, I...
yeah likewise, I have some Liocheles waigiensis @ 2nd instar for ~1 yr also... :?
They have no problems eating crickets bigger than their bodysize though! In fact one of them is so fat at the moment that he/she waddles! hahaha {D :D
Yeah they're real cacti. Setup has changed a bit since then, pulled the cacti out and reaarranged it a bit (those pics are around 1.5yrs old, haha) - added more hides and what not... I think it's good to vary their environment every 6-9 months or so.
When I was wetting the sand, I'd spray it...
I've got my Urodacus Yaschenkoi on "Desert Sand" - which I bought from a local pet store. Apparently it's from the simpson desert or somewhere like that...
I moisten it when I fill the tank up, and compact it down so it hardens after it dries out a bit... the scorp can then burrow very...
Hey mate,
I keep a Urodacus Yaschenkoi, have had 1 (unsure of sex) I think he/she's at 4th/5th instar now (I don't know how to tell, but he/she is BIG!) - anyway have had him/her for about 2yrs now, living happily.
I also have a female Liocheles Waigiensis, who turned out to be gravid...
I only have a few and I haven't named the babies yet... but... my:
Urodacus sp: Set (Seth - aka Egyptian God of Chaos/Destruction
Liocheles sp: Serqet (Egyptian God/Queen of Scorpions)
I live in mid-latitude Australia so there's no real need for heating the tanks, especially seeing as the only species we can legally keep here are Aussie ones, hehe.
Hehe, you guys who said leafhopper are correct! I e-mailed the Australian Museum and they identified it for me =) BTW, whoever said to study it - I did not capture it ^_^ I was in a rush to get somwhere, so I merely blew it off my car (i didn't hurt it)... Here's the reply I got
Hey guys and girls, I'm from Australia - and as you know we have many weird creatures here... I was hoping someone could identify this bug for me! I found it on my car! :D
I don't know what it is or what planet it came from - but it is by far the weirdest thing I have ever seen... It walked...
