    Tom, The specimen I have looks exactly like yours. She is definitely a large spider around 7" I got her 2003 or 2004(can't remember) at the lps. She was labelled "blue birdeater" haha. For years I've been trying to get the right ID on her. It seems impossible. I will post some pictures in this...

    I have adult females in the following: P formosa P metallica P miranda P ornata P regalis x 2 P rufilata P subfusca P tigrinawesseli Everyone of these are incredibly fast when it comes to eating and rehousing. I don't bother them unless I absolutely have to. The P metallica is the only one...

    I not a parent, but my advice would be to get one of those tarantulacages.com or Exo terra enclosures. For the adult species that is. They have optional locking on them. Just have them out of reach from your daughter and you'll be fine! If you're doing slings. I'd have the vials and/or deli cups...
