Out of all my T's, it's gotta be my p.Cancerides HANDS DOWN WINNER!!!
There's no retreating with this one when you disturb him, he will lunge at whatever is intruding. A knock on the tank = jumping at the walls, if it wasn't for the sides of the tank I'm sure he would have been attached to...
This happend with my smithi. She's is an adult and has molted in my care 3 times (I've had her for approx 2 years). The second time she molted she did it again in an increadibly short time after, like a few weeks later. I have no explination but she hasn't molted for about 9 months now. I...
Quick update....
Taking the advice given to me I am going to get her prepared correctly to avoid rotting etc in the future and I am handing her over to a taxidermist to have it done properly as I'm not confident in my ability to 'scoop' out the internals and patch her back up. I was...
Brilliant!
Thank you all for your help, I'm actually kinda of excited by this now.
Only the sedcond one of mine to die but this one has been quite sad because of how long she's been with us.
Cheers, hopefully I'll get round to this quick n I'll post the 'successful' results.
Thanks very much Gigus and Thoth!!!
One last q. any particular resin?
Thanks, you've made a sad moment all smiley lol. Love the idea of a paper weight!
Unfortunatley our oldest T died today, a g.Rosea (12yrs in our care, prob 20+ years old). :(
We would like to preserve her or dry frame her and wondered how long a T will remain visablly normal before any shrinkage or rotting occurs?
Neither of us feel equipt or 'able' to extract all...
I had never contimplated the T hobby before I met my other half. Didn't even know such a thing existed really. I found out after 6 months that he had a T at his mums house some miles away. I adopted her and went on to swiftly get 10 more over the next 18 months. This blokes practically made...
Hi,
Have you checked the tank out? You said she dissapeared down her burrow about a month ago. Did she molt during that time perhaps? (signs point to a molt pending due to not eating and retreating to her burrow for that period of time)
Did she look different when you saw her recently...
Never owned a versi myself, would love to though!
A friend of mine had a problem with versi slings dying on her (keeping them under the general text book conditions)
She tried slightly altering conditions (i.e. more/less humid, ventilation was always good, different substrate etc) with new...
I would agree that L.parahybana are good burrowers but IME only when they are young.
My best burrower is my aphnopelma chalcodes, (don't know how typical it is for this species though). No matter how much substrate I give her she never stops digging until she hits walls then starts turning...

They are semi aboreal so some climbing apperatus is a must. They are happy in quite arid conditions. I actually keep mine pretty much along the same lines as my G.rosea, Vermiculite, water dish, no spraying, the only...
I've had my p.cancerides for nearly a year now, when I got her she was about the size of a thumb nail as you can see (how cute).
Thought it'd be good to show a proper little sling, ther's a reason I called her Blooey................
ummm, I deffinately won't be holding mine Gesticulator! Before she built her fortress I moved her tank from one room to another where it's warmer, when I put her down she was fine but when I went in for a closer look she promptly threw her legs in the air and was obviously trying to pick a...
Thank you, that's all I needed to know really. semi-aboreal hey, you learn something new everyday, it's weird because every bit of info I've read says aboreal, but maybe I've been looking in the wrong places.
Thanks again.
Is it also a regular thing to seal herself into this retreat or is...
I very recentlt got myself a P.irminia (been on my hit list forever, love them).
I'm not concerned as such because she seems quite content but she has built a retreat on the floor, dragging up vermiculite into the web as if to make a wall all around her. Is it norman/unusual for these guys to...
