Some shots with new Macro lens...

OldHag; Great!! Thanks for the idea! I'll run out to the tortoise pen and get some more sowbugs and take some pics as well! I'm also going to get some of my Crested Gecko's, they have the most incredible eyes!

Tarantula Classroom Project; Part 2 (w/ pics..)

A fantastic way to teach kids responsibility and the rewards of good husbandry! And how to appreciate other living creatures! I am so excited that you are able to do this in a public school! I was a tutor in an elementary school a few years back, and I had a baby iguana and two calotes in class...

    Claws

Incredible shot!!! What kind of equipment you use? That would make a great poster, no one would be able to guess what it was! There's an idea! Take macro shots of different parts of a T's anatomy with different backgrounds like you have there, frame them and sell them as art!!! I'd buy it!!!

    Is this pic good enough?

Tried using my new Macro lens to get a belly shot of my B. emelia, but the lighting might not be good enough. Any guesses?

Some shots with new Macro lens...

Had to try out some shots of my T's with my new macro lens. I need to work on my lighting and background techniques, but this isn't too bad for a start! Pics are of my A. chalcodes, A. geniculata eating a waxworm, a B. vagans on my wrist (just molted after this pic!), and a A. versicolor. Enjoy!

What type of lens for close-ups?

Thank you soooo much! This is just the kind of advice I was looking for! I just didn't know which direction to go in, and advertisers make each item sound like just what I want! I'll start looking into the lens's. Again, thank you! :)

What type of lens for close-ups?

Since I can't seem to post in the pictures thread I'll ask here. I have a Minolta Maxxum AF camera, with supposed Macro lens, but don't get the detail I want for pics of my T's. I have been reading up on my options, and can't decide between the close-up lens, or extension tubes. Anyone have any...

    New hope for Petco?

Just wanted to say, with all the bad history that chain petstores have, that here in Arizona, two different Petco's have hired two friends of mine that are very knowledgeable in herpetology; and that they are making changes and actually turning the whole Herp department around! It's a start ...

    Petco Deals

Yeah, their on sale in Arizona as well, from $99.00 to $39.99. I am sooo tempted, but that means buying another tank, which I just don't have at the moment. Might just have to wait on that.... (what discipline!!!) ;)

    Freshly molted tiger rump

Hey Brian! Very nice!!! Mine molted last Sunday, and just today took her first cricket! Mine is about 3 inches, and I was told was a female when I bought her, but who knows! Wish she would come out of her web so I could get a good look at her!

What Species are considered the best eaters?

Well, I keep my slings at around 80 - 82 degrees F. And they all eat like there is no tommorrow! My A. genic, B. vagans, G. aureo, A. versi, all grab their crickets the second they hit the substrate, then do a little dance with it in their mouths! I have 3 juvenile T's: a C. fasciatum, A...

How long before a traumatized spider is "Out of the woods"?

Well! I found that a very good story, and your writing of it really entertaining! You could try some short stories or novels? Something to do with Tarantula's?! Anyway, glad your critters are okay! We've all done stupid things before. Hopefully your animals will not suffer anything further...

How do you breed crix for slings to eat??

Very simple! When you buy some adults, put in a small container with moist soil or Bed-a-Beast. Leave it there for a week or so, you will notice the females digging in and spending a lot of time there. Keep it moist, but not wet. Then take it out and put it in a separate container, keep moist...

    Not-So-Plain Brown Wrappers

Love my new Tucson Blonde! Just picked up this guy this weekend at the Phoenix show! It is a juvie male, but, hey, that's okay. He was too beautiful to pass up! And I wanted some native species. He's my first native! Not the greatest pic, he just refused to pose! But here he is cleaning his feet!

    Some Sexing Guides...

Thank you! This helps alot! Although if I understand it correctly it looks as though I've got a bunch of males!! Oh well, that's okay, wasn't planning on breeding them anyway!

    Haired by B. Boehmei

worsening reactions I have yet to be "haired", but I am allergic to bee stings, and know from personal experience that the reactions got worse with each sting. Keep some Benadryl on hand, it also comes in a cream, that might help!

    Chaco sling molted!!

My yearling Chaco sling just molted today! And now it has color other than the tan, colorless sling color! If you know what I mean! Anyway, with a magnifying glass I can see the pinkish colored hairs on his abdomen, and he is now black with gray legs. Just wondering if these colors will change...

    Beauty in symmetry

Chaco moult Wow! I hope my little one moults soon! He has buried himself under his hide and closed up the entrance for two days! He's a tiny thing so I'm anxious for him to do some growing! BTW, what is the correct spelling of 'moult'? :? Beth
