Crazy article about removing Tarantuala fangs from Daily Mail

I did try to nicely post to that article about tarantula fangs THREE times but they edit their replies, and decided not to post any of mine. They did eventually let through one person's post about removing tarantula fangs means they'd die, so at least a voice of reason has spoken on that article!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=472039&in_page_id=1770&in_page_id=1770 HOW do people still get away believing junk like that about 'devenomed' spiders? {D

What is your most elaborate T setup?

I'd love to see a pic of that! It sounds awesome! :D

    is cross breeding possible?

The biggest problem I can personally see with hybrid Ts in the trade is how it effects the bloodlines of species. If I pay 200$ for a T, I want it to be 100% of what I paid for. Hybrids will dilute the purity of the stock when unscrupulous sellers try to pass off a T as something it's only 1/2...

    Who's behind the computer - Part 1

Yeah she is! I think she looks like the girl that played Brad Pitt's love interest in "Troy". If we are comparing people to random stars, lol :) (And random Seuss characters.)

    dead T. blondi

Sorry to hear. :( We'd need more info about enclosure, water & feeding to give you any clues on what (if anything) was done wrong.

    capturing

I wonder if they still make those 3 liter bottles for soda anymore? Because some of the larger Ts might require one of those instead. LOL :p That is an awesome method though, I'm going to remember that.

    Substrate preference poll

I use jungle mix & bed-a-beast combo for all my Ts. I DID have a problem with white fuzzy mold under one rosehairs hide for a couple days but I am sure I just didn't let it dry out enough first. It was still too moist when I put her in there, and I knew that at the time even, but she was looking...

    Blondi STILL trying to moult

Thank you. :) She's really dark now with some bright reddish hairs on the very back end of her abdomen -- I wasn't expecting that! :D LOL She looks great TG, had to get more film for my camera. ;) She's on about 2" of jungle mix with about 4" of coconut fiber underneath that, I thought I'd...

    Blondi STILL trying to moult

Sorry people I just got home from work a little bit ago. :) The blondi is out of her moult and seems fine! She finished sometime while I was at work tonight, I kept calling home asking my brother to check on her and drop water through the vents at the top of the cage in the middle of the...

    Blondi STILL trying to moult

:( :( :( she's been trying since late sunday night.... still laying on her back today. :( she is still alive at the moment, i touched her foot with a pair of tweezers and she jerked it real fast and kind of flexed her legs and carpace, readjusted her fangs. i can't tell if her carpace has...

    breeding question

Hey, I know how you feel. I've had a male A. avic drumming to my female rosehair since december. :wall: He lives in her old kritter keeper, I rinsed it but I didn't exactly scrub it. I really don't think he cares what species it is as long as he gets to a willing female, he's a horny...

house/jumping spiders and tarantulas living together

I LOVE those little black jumping spiders with the green eyes, I'd like to know if this works out, but I'd still be wary. Seems like Murphy's Law invades whenever I try something people say is easy or works perfectly fine.

Are we weird or are they narrow minded?

I think we are weird, and they are narrow-minded. :} I can relate to my tarantulas... in how people respond to them are similar to how people have always responded to me in general. I'm creepy and odd but mostly harmless. ;) The passion and joy I feel over collecting tarantulas just can't be...

    I am a naughty owner...

My P. lugardi, Elmo, has done that. Webbed himself up in his plastic, potato-shaped rock hide and hasn't stuck so much as a toe out in about two weeks. It's very annoying, and I'm worried. I took garbage bag and bread bag twisties and fashioned a 'probe' to poke out some of the...
