    Imagine

Tarantula: Poecilotheria metallica or striata Substrate: Peat moss/topsoil, doesn't matter as long as I have a lot of stuff to climb on Type: Lightning fast with the potent venom should I wish to inflict it upon something. And I'd be humongous, think world record pokie.

    Adventure with a P. ornata

Man go get some sleep, that's gotta be a hard thing to deal with on normal conditions. I had trouble once with my Psalmopoeus cambridgei sling, but that was my fault. I can't imagine a big pokie like that.

    Heating

Be careful about heat matts, it can create hotspots in the enclosure causing undue stress. I've also heard of some tarantulas gettin a little baked during molt because of a heat matt, so be very careful. IMO it's better to use a space heater, but that's just me.

    planning on getting first tarantula

I heard if you get some hairs on you, just apply ductape, gently take off, and reapply over and over again, and then wash your hands, and most of it will be fine, with maybe just a few hairs left.

    Slings as First Tarantula

Avic Avic is at the top of my list. Or versicolor, I guess. I've heard that avic avics are a little easier to take care of, and a little more docile.

    Slings as First Tarantula

Is a spiderling a good idea as a first tarantula? More than likely it won't be a sling, but asking just in case.

need help (not emergencie but please look)

Many entomologists also study aranchnids, because arachnologists don't really make much of a living. This link talks about agricultural and food scientists, and entomologists are included there. http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos046.htm That will give you some of the answers you will need.

    Tarantulas in Kansas

I live in the country just outside of Wichita, Kansas. Supposedly the A. Hentzi is in the southern half of kansas, but I have never seen a wild tarantula in my life. Has anyone ever seen any in this area, or come to scout out some wild ones?

Water dish being filled with substrate

Many times this is because the rosea doesn't need the humidity. They really do love the driest conditions possible...often they only need water in their dish every 3-4 days, if not once a week.

    Arboreal Cubes

Very nice, I hope to use something similar when I get my first tarantula (avic avic). I particularly like the one on the far left (in the top picture). Looks like a great place for a web.

    Regrets?

I know I'll keep my stock of T's limited. You have to admit, when a smokin hot girl walks in your apartment and all she see's is a bunch of tarantula's, there's no way she's not gonna have regrets about goin out with you (in most cases at least) lol.
