    Gravid Trapdoor Pic

Sorry I haven't been around alot (not that anyone REALLY misses me.. lol) but the challenges of homeownership have been overwhelming to say the least!! During the latest project on my "Honey-Do" list it required digging out the stump of a Hawthorn tree we had cut down last year. About four...

New to the collection - Black Widow (pic)

I was wondering what sp she was. I didn't know the hour glass markings made a difference... Thanks John... After talking with the guy that caught it and asking a bunch of questions, it appears that they had recieved a rather large, used canvas tent from southern CA this past summer by way of...

Mite Infestation Info - Please Read

If I ever et a mite problem in a T enclosure I will try Wade's method of using predatory mites. Put them in, they eat the bad mites... when the bad mites are gone... the predatory mites die off for lack of food supply... Fixes itself... :D

New to the collection - Black Widow (pic)

One of my clients collected this spider for me not far from Bend, Oregon this last week. I find this location puzzeling because Bend is at the foot of Mt Bachelor. It is very cold there due to the elevation an there is usually no shortage of snow. I would have thought that the cold would be...

Pics of Tillie - A. versicolor

Been a while since I saw so much BLUE sky!!! I took advantage of the afternoon sun across my desk... I coaxed Tillie, My A versi out a bit, rewarded her with a nice cricket, and she was kind enough to sit still for a photo shoot. I liked these two the best. This is the first shot in the...

    Trouble in Dodge

I wonder if anyone has ever done any studies on this? Could be useful if it really did impact the gender split of an eggsac..

    Trouble in Dodge

It is likely that they haven't eaten because they have been living off of the yolk sac, which will run out here shortly if not already. You need to make one of two moves here: 1) Leave them all togehter and they will feed off of one another for a period of time. Some call it culling the...

    Meet Carmen and Cleo... (pics)

Thought I would play some catch-up and post a *recent* pic of a couple of my Ts... Thanks for taking the time to look... :) This is Carmen. Carmen is a Honduran Curly Hair (B. albopilosum) as you can see. The dealer I bought her from had mixed up slings of several different species and...

    Finally got my first spider!!

G rosea was my first tarantula too... They are hardy and slow moving. Mine was quite docile and timid when I first got her, but once she molted for me she turned into a little brown devil! Won't let me touch her for nothing!

    concern

I tried that but the SMELL!!!! I use my gas BBQ outside for the same effect. I spread the soil on old cookie sheets and grill it on low heat for about 30 minutes to an hour...

    Hissers with mites...

Right on Wade!!! :) I remember reading a post about this before now that you mention it. I assume that I will need to put the roaches back onto substrate in order to utilize these predatory mites... Right now they just have paper towel rolls to climb in and on. Are the predatory...

    Trying to make a list...

How many do you intend to start with? After looking at it, I would buy your list in 3rds starting at the top since that is just about the order of difficulty... Give or take...

    Is this to big????

I think it is a bit large for one aboreal (I assume) in it at 36" high. 24" is plenty or divide it in half, one top one bottom. That worth $.02?

I have my choices narrowed down to two, please help!

Yeap.. A. versicolor would be my choice between the two. There really isn't any difference between them as far as maintenence goes other than the metallica can (will?) grow a bit larger than the versicolor. None of the Avics are prone to aggression but are quite flighty. Do keep in mind it...

    Goliath bird eater substrate

Welcome to the boards Justin. The number of choices for vivarium substrate is many and diverse. Some of the more common ones are peat moss, vermiculite, and potting soil. Each of these has unique properties that are benificial to different species of tarantula. Since your question was in...

    Hissers with mites...

My hissers are housed as follows: No substrate, only paper towel rolls. Food & water are in dishes and consist of crushed dry dog & cat food and a fruit or veggie every other day. Any veggie remains are removed within 24 hours. Simple and very basic setup. I just want to rid them of the...
