Interesting topic and something which I've been thinking about lately.
I've noticed how some of my NW species will attack anything that comes into their enclosure? For example I have a blondi who will pounce on my tongs (no fingers near that one!) the second the get anywhere close to the...
Here ya go - good luck with your paper. It would be interesting to see when finished.
1. Tapinauchenius
2. I love arboreals in general. Taps are a great shape, have a silky appearance and the show up the most remarkable colours when they shimmer under in the light.
3. For a year.
4. I...
My Genic will take a bunch of cricks but doesn't roll them into one big meal (like my others seem to), she kills them and stockpiles them into a food mountain in her den eating them one at a time....Guess she's a 'Lady' and likes to eat her dinner in restaurant style 'courses'…can you get T...
I think they kinda get balder anyways through ware and tare just as time goes on between moults... :? Not to the extent of your second pics though!
My G.Pulchra has a balding spot though she NEVER flicks hair - I think it's mostly from bumping her way around the place; she's a bit clumsy :p -...
My girl :D
I love this spid; she's speedy but it takes a lot to spook her, she's generally very calm and not very aggressive at all.
Does anyone else find that?
Ooooh go on then...
Jump on the band wagon!!!
Here's my little one - loved seeing it moult out of the fluffy arm bands into the nike stripes...I loooove Psalmos and Irminia are so striking :D
An idea???
This may not be relevant but I thought I'd mention it anyways...the climbing and falling thing sounds just like life learning. Learning how to climb and the places to avoid etc...a lesson which my G.Pulchra seems to have missed. She's tends to go for a bit of a wander of an evening...
:D
Love it :D
Reminds me of when I had a T delivered, the postman came to the door holding a little box in his hand. It had 'Delicate - Glass' written on the side (as they generally treat 'expensive' delicate parcels better than they treat 'delicate - live bugs'; the latter may also...
Maybe it's the pink little toes....
Hands up - I'm a girl and Avics are my fave!
I think they're very aesthetically pleasing and it was seeing a pic of a Versi that got me into the habit...oh er I mean hobby.
Then again I've got big feelings for many others too now :D
When I was very new to the hobby the scientific names worried me what with whole pronunciation thing. Then I quickly found the common names much more confusing, especially where one T has two or three common names :?
Now I always use the scientific name, in fact I have trouble remembering...
I think it's a matter of nerve...the only time I've ever done it was with a more knowledgeable friend who showed me how!!!
As a novice here's what I found/learned;
Check out the Tarantula Keepers Guide (as MilkmanWes said) and use as a substitute friend!
Get the T to walk onto a smooth...
I'm running the risk of being pounced on but...
I thoroughly agree that you cannon ID any T (especially an Avic at this size) with a photo.
Having said that as long as the thread starter is aware of this and is not looking to 100% ID anything for the purposes of breeding; but rather to...
Just my two pennies worth...
I feed my slings every other day then if I don't get a chance for a couple of days (or run out of cricks and need time to order more) I don't have to worry.
My juvs and adults are fed once maybe twice a week depending on their appetite.
