Those are so cool, good job! I used to keep hamsters and gerbils. After I stopped doing that, I had a bunch of plastic tubes from their "Playgrounds" left over. I put some in a few of my T's enclosures, and they work great :) keep us posted if you get any new ideas, lol :)
I am sorry for your loss :( I lost my blondi to a bad molt a while back, and it does stink. But in the hobby, one is never enough, lol. Before you know it, you will have more than you imagined ever getting! I lost my oldest T, a rosie, on Christmas day. I had her almost 13 years. I cried like a...
I lost one in a molt. she was also almost 10" and I did have her for years, but it still stinks! For a long time after, i stressed every one of my others T's molts. good luck, Dominatus! :)
Yesterday, I lost my favorite T. She was a rosie, of course. She was a present to me from my husband when I had my first son. Believe it or not, I cried while I buried her. It sucks to lose any pet, and I am sorry for you loss, as well.
As a kid, my mom was terrified of snakes, my dad was a "dog" person, so that was the only animal we ever had. I don't know why, but I was always fascinated with spiders and snakes. I don't even know how it all started. Now, I have 21 T's. That is what my husband always buys me for holidays...
I have 6 rosies, and one is the same way. she eats just fine, and she is nice and plump;) I just keep an eye on her dish, and refill as needed. So far, it has worked good. I also gave her a slightly larger dish. The central air does contribute though. Since I live in South Florida, I have to...
I have never used heat mats. I keep the AC vents in the "spider room" closed off, because I live in South Florida and my husband keeps the AC cold. If you live in a cold climate, space heaters are said to work just fine! Heat mats can be dangerous if not used VERY carefully, that's all!
Mine is about 6" and eats like a horse! She will attack all the crickets I put in there if she can. I accidentally dropped 3 in there one day, as I usually only feed 1-2 at a time to my larger Ts to avoid having to fish out uneaten crix. She grabbed them all up within seconds. They are decent...
ROFL, I am getting some great ideas from these....and as I said earlier, I would like to name a few after my favorite musicians....but I just realized something....I have an Eddie and an Alex....I can claim they were named after the Van Halen Brothers:D
Happy Holidays to all!
Deni
hahahaha, Twisted Sister is one of my top faves! Good name! I think after the holidays are over and I get my next one, it will be named after a musician, I just can't decide which one yet!
Mine grows like a weed, and has a good appetite. As far as enclosure maintenance, she runs from me when I open it up, has never tried to attack me or kick hairs. She just gets out of my way, generally into or on top of her hide :) It is a great T, one I think you would be happy to watch it grow...
I don't have a theme, but I have an 8-year-old son and a 7-year-old son, so I let them loose. So far I have:
My oldest rosie: Jaymi, the only one I ever got to name
Rosie: Charlie
Rosie: Eddie
L. parahybana: Sam
P. cancerides: Carter Joe
T. blondi: Reaper
A. avic: Lee
A. seemani: Alex...
I had a 10.5" blondi who passed away the day before Halloween this year, but I did have her for quite a long time. She was a wonderful T, and I miss her:) I plan to get another one after the new year, a sling instead of an adult. As everyone has said, it is more fun to watch them grow, and you...
As MindUtopia stated, they refuse food for some time before the molt....when my blondi was 9", she didn't eat for 6 weeks. That does sound like an awful lot of feeding. Ts will eat and eat as long as you are throwing food in there, so be careful of overfeeding:) I have also noticed with the...
