They look very shallow like the scent glands found on females, but I can't figure out why they'd be red. Believe me, the hemipenis' (hemipeni?) are much longer than that.
I just want to resurrect this thread as I have a friend I was telling this about, but the original pictures are gone so I can't show him. If anyone has saved pictures of the OP's photos, or can get him to reload them it would be much appreicated!
I would say B.albopilosum. I own an adult female of both species, and IMO it doesn't look like a L.parahybana in that picture. It also isn't nearly as curly as my B.albopilocsum is, so post a shot after it molts then I think it will be much easier to tell.
Hey everyone,
On Tarantula Canada they have Thelyphonus caudatus for sale at 1" for $25, and I'm thinking of picking up one at the upcoming Expo.
I've always wanted Vinegaroons, but I can't seem to find any info on this species, so I have a few questions for those of you who may know...
I'd steer clear of Columbian Tegu's and go for and Argentine Black and White instead. They're generally much more docile and handleable, and usually more attractive.
A great resource for Tegu's of all sorts:
TeguTalk.com, one of the biggest Gu breeders in the States runs it (Bobby Hill from...
I don't think they'll be a problem. I've had them in my T enclosures, and a friend had a couple in his centipede enclosure without any problems. They did a great job of cleaning too!
You said you didn't like roaches because they're large flying insects, but what about Blaptica dubia? Sure, the males have wings, but I've never been able to make a male actually fly. One adult female would fill her up I think?
I would agree with the above post that she's uncomfortable because she can't hide. You need a lot of substrate for her to make a burrow, I wouldn't personally bother with a hide as I don't think that'd be enough for an obligate burrower.
That's a bad angle, you need to get the picture straight onto the bottom. I would hazard to guess female just because of the distance between the book lungs, but would need a better picture to confirm.
