Judging that it was 7"+ when I bought it, most likely yes, that's probably why it had the predatory mites or whatever. It probably had it in Vietnam where it was probably caught.
I came home today from school, wondering how my S. subspinipes was doing.. It's been refusing food the past few days and the colors have gotten much darker. I've been leaving it alone ever since it first refused food, thinking that perhaps it would moult in the next week or so. Unfortunately...
The keyword is shouldn't, but it most certainly still can climb out. The centipede can climb the glue that holds the glass into place at every corner. My subspinipes has escaped on me twice via this. Use a screen lid to prevent this.
I must admit, those pedes look neat. However, I a fan of the BIGGER pedes :) . Perhaps I'll get one after I've greatly expanded my collection, which won't be for some time.
This IS the internet, go look for yourself. Some people say only emperors and heterometrus' can live communaly, but I've seen pics of a few lucky people here and there that get "hot" scorps habitating together. It's a game of chance, one with generally poor results.
Doesn't look like one to me, but I could be wrong. Use the search function in the forum for de haani, because Gary (atrax) has posted pics of his devouring a lizard.
Basically, and I hate to be repetitive, when mating pedes, the "swap method" is generally used. You put the centipedes in one another's cage (no more than one pede in any cage at a time) and you hope that if they are different sexes then the male will pick up on the female's scent (pheramone)...
Re: "Red head"
That must be a regional variance, because like you stated, the standard vietnamese is without the redder head and leg tips. Mine doesn't have these subtle differences either.
