    Who molted today?

By 4 - 4:30 PM, she was completely out. She's still on her back, cleaning herself. I guess I can chalk it up to another successful molt. Way to go, girl ! She'll totally tackle her crickets in a month's time. Time to let her rest and recover :)

    Who molted today?

Fluffy, my B. boehmei AF is on her back right now. Found her like this as I woke up about half an hour ago. Ought to go well. Since it's my day off, perhaps I'll have the chance to witness the full molting procedure :)

    Technically...not tarantula related, but,

Well, last Monday did mark 15 years for me. Officially bought my first G. rosea on 25/3/09. I honestly did not think the interest would stick for over a decade, but here I am still. Rarely post nowadays, but I do check up on things every now and then. My B. boehmei is currently in premolt, so...

    Vicareux' A. Geniculata growth diary

Sorry about losing AG1 :/ Hopefully the other two will lead full lives. AG2 is definitely a stunner ! This species is always on my wishlist. Perhaps the only tropical NW I'll dabble with as I'm perfectly content working with basic beginner genera. We'll see.

    She's HERE! Meet Dancer!

Congratulations and welcome to the Hobby ! In case you may not have seen it, I'm going to reccommend that you read through @viper69 's Avic tutorial. It's going to explain a ton and will surely save you some issues down the road. Dancer looks stunning and will surely only get better as he/she...

    Well, that was horrifyingly unexpected....

Woah ! I've only read about these types (perhaps not this particular genus, but still) of parasites on the Baerg book and if I recall, they're also mentioned in the TKG. First time reading an account of this type of parasite here. Shame you lost your T, but this will definitely be a boon for...

    Show your dogs!!

Wha- ?! What kind of person leaves a dog (puppy, most likely, right ?) in a dumpster ?! Some people simply have NO conscience whatsoever ! Glad that she found a loving master. She is beautiful :)

    Show your dogs!!

Everyone has wonderful dogs ! To all that lost their precious friends recently, you have my condolences. I know all-too well the pain of losing one, even if it's due to old age :/ Here's the latest one, Missy. She is a (mostly) black Shih Tzu. She's currently 11 months old. An absolute doll of...

Can’t wait any longer…had to post my new auratum…I’m in love!

Just because they're considered "beginner" doesn't make them any less desirable. Sure, they're easy to work with as opposed to more advanced species. A couple of factors making me prefer them to others is not only their ease of care and laid-back temperament, but also their willingness to be on...

Can’t wait any longer…had to post my new auratum…I’m in love!

My boehmei is approx 16-17 years old now, got her as an unsexed 1.5" juvie 14 years ago. She's still going strong and is always ready to hunt down her food. So far, so good. *Knocks on wood*

Can’t wait any longer…had to post my new auratum…I’m in love!

Stunner ! While they share a pattern with hamorii and smithi, the deep red on the patella in contrast to the midnight black coloring really makes them stand out. I'd say they look even better than boehmei. (But don't tell mine, she'll get jealous and hate me :P)

Woah ! Most impressive indeed ! You taught her well, sir ;)

    Tliltocatl vagans Behavioral Study

The short answer would be no. Spending extra time with mom would simply increase the chances of further cannibalism. No spider gets "gentler" because of the upbringing, so to speak. Whether they're born in the wild or in captivity, they remain wild and totally unpredictable. Some individuals...

    Tliltocatl vagans Behavioral Study

I want to say that book is probably Tarantulas of Belize by Steven B. Reichling. I definitely recall such an observation in it with local T. vagans. Yes, they. sense the silk by touch and the chemoreceptors probably help in that regard too. There's strength in numbers, if they huddle so close...

    Hello, boyos. Meesa back !

Not any recent ones, I'm afraid. I'm not even sure if I have a pic for each on here... but I will try to rectify that one way or another. Dunno when, but at some point :)

    Unexpected tarantula death

Sorry for you loss. Unfortunately, there's no way to tell how old your H. gigas was if the pet shop wasn't able to give you any history on it. There's a good chance this one was wild caught and simply at the end of its lifespan. Hopefully, you can try again later and raise a captive bred sling...

    Hello, boyos. Meesa back !

Thanks for the warm welcome, people ! :D Taking a break did me some good. I'm back with a clear head and will continue to contribute to the best of my ability/knowledge as I have in the past :)

    Hello, boyos. Meesa back !

And that's as far as I'll go with my terrible Gungan-speech impression. Hah ! Been away for several months. No real reason except that I decided to take a break from the Internet... for the most part. Still needed to use it for work, though. I see there's some interesting taxonomical revisions...
