i think he meant he keeps all (or some) of his spiders enclosures in those portable green house things...the thing I'm thinking of is a couple shelves with a clear plastic cover and usually a zippered door or something
I have a Canon Pro90 IS that my dad gave me when he got his Canon Rebel XT. Its a view years old, but does the job. I did have to buy macro lense filters for it though, which were about $80 CAN for the set of three. It will tide me over until I have the money to spend on a digital SLR.
I think (i'm not completely sure) that you can just leave the hide there. I would think that it would know if it has enough space. I would keep a close eye on it if you can just incase but I dont think it will be an issue. Hopefully someone else can reply soon too.
Oh i should mention that I DID start a burrow before I got him. I just pushed my finger down on side of the glass making a 2 inch indent. When I placed the vial in the jar he darted into the hole and started digging that night. Was always along the glass where I can see.
When i put him in his...
if the substrate is really moist you might be better off rehouseing him, making sure the substrate isnt too damp, just to be safe. what substrate are you using?
how big is he? just curious
This is his home, but this was before I got him in may. He still uses the same home. I have a 2.5 gallon set up for him just waiting to get a glass lid instead of screen, then he will be moving into his new home.
I don't measure the humidity with mine really. Usually there is a bit of condensation on the glass where there is substrate, not condensation in the air. I just keep his water dish full every few days, usaully that night he comes and dumps it or fills it with peat. I keep him on 5 or so inches...
very nice tanks :) Do you have pics for us of the spiders? I'd love to see your two p. murinus :)
*edit* are some of those plants real? and i really like the wood pieces you have used, are they from outside or did you buy them?
for what it's worth, the only time mine has ever closed off his burrow (i think twice now) was when he eventually molted. The rest of the time it is completely open.
im not sure if its a regional thing. I think people have had normal looking seemanni's molt into a blue colour and then sometimes molt back to black or stay blue. I don't know for sure though.
I wouldn't say mine is boring. Yes he does burrow, but he has burrowed along the glass and for the most part, hes always doing some more digging. More recently he has been coming out of his burrow to sit out in the open, he is about 3 inches as well. I would say that price is pretty good too.
