what also bears mentioning are secondary infections from the bite itself and not due from the envenomation (is that a word?). some of those can cause swelling and necrotic tissue. often dirt and bacteria will do more damage than the venom.

i have used duct tape to remove the urticating hairs on my arms and hands. better than nothing. it is much easier to go to pep boys and get gloves. like in a doctors office.
