Through I have kept herps for a pretty long time, for a while all I have have had is a uromastyx. Anyway I was thinking that maybe it's about time that I attempt to breed some herps. Any suggestions as to what would be a good choice?
I like the divers face in pic 6. Oh yeah and very cool pics. Reminds me of a documentary on dvd called Aliens of the Sea or something like that. Actually a pretty cool film if your into things like that because you can watch it with and without music and narration.
Okay so it's been a few years since I have kept any aquatic turtles(western painted mostly), and I am thinking of purchasing a mud turtle. I have a good idea of the care needed for these but was wondering what other people's setups look like. I am looking for idea's so any pics would certainly...
As a beginner tortoise I think that the Red Foot would be the better option. Neither of those species hibernate as they are both from pretty warm enviroments. Though I believe that most keepers recommend a slight cooling of around 5 degrees in the winter for red foots. They do require high...
Well, since most tortoises are best kept outdoors, you could use your climate and temp as an indicator. Redfoots do well with warm more humid conditions, while stars will like more of an arid climate.
the water temp for sliders should be about 70-75 degrees. On the other hand if you have baby slidersthat you wish to grow quickly you can raise the temp to about 82-85 degrees.
Whoops! Damn, I didn't even notice that you were in Canada. What I would do then is see if you can find any turtle and tortoise clubs in your area. Alot of times if you are a member of such a club you can find animals that are no longer wanted by their original owner.
Then They are Damn Nuts! There are plenty of online dealers that sell them such as: http://www.markmlucas.com/
http://www.prehistoricpets.com/
http://www.diamondreptile.com/ (cb from 05 for $100.00)...
I guess it would depend on what you view as expensive but a russian tortoise should run you no more than $85.00 . A captive bred juvenile will probably be around that price but would be the best bet in my opinion.
Well even the russian isn't going to be able to fit comfortably in your hand. They can get to about 8 inches(20.3 cm). The leopard tortoise on the other hand ranks as around the 4th or 5th largest tortoise in the world and can reach around 21 inches(53.3 cm), though they are usually around 15 or...
Thank you very much! The thing is though, I would go with wild caught but in my opinion too many of the amphibians(including those from North America) are being collected without much thought to the effects on their populations.
That's a damn fine looking gecko you got there my friend. I have always wanted a crested gecko but just don't have the space right now. Oh well, maybe when I get my own place.
To be honest I never thought that they would get one on film. That is pretty damn cool though. Thnks for posting that :worship: I probably never would have found out.
