My OBT was as fast as lightning. They are very hardy and easy to keep. They're just tricky when it comes to changing enclosures or cleaning. I never opened my lid fully. I used long tongs with work gloves, just in case. I would typically crack the door open and use the tongs as best I could...
Think about your entire T collection. You just sold them all but had the choice to keep one. Which one would you keep??
I believe my T Blondi is the one I would keep.
I love this thread. Right now everyone is commenting on how sweet and cuddly the OBTs are. I can't wait to see updates and hear about the entire communal reared up and throwing threat displays at the same time.
Sum it all up now!
Ok, so to sum up all this bickering and banter. The OBT is fine if you do the proper research. They're Semi-Arboreal. Can be extremely aggressive. Being bitten really really really sucks (look at bite reports). Care needed is very minimal. Still cheap if not free when...
I checked out the usual website with schedule but nothing came up. So does anyone know when the Columbus, Ohio reptile show is in town? Oh, I also don't have the address saved for the show. That would help also.
I say buy them all. It seems as if you eventually want to own at least 1 or 2 of each. Or just pick the ones that are on sale or the best deal. At some point in time you will own them all.
OBTs are awesome. I'm ordering a couple more today. In the tarantula world though, they are hellspawn. They're one T that my guard is always up with. My OBT has no problem attempting to bite me every chance it gets.
I'm just glad I only have to rehouse all the OBT's and Pokies 1 more time. The enclosures are almost done and then I have to make myself transfer them all. Not looking forward to it.
The bathtub method works well. However, don't forget your bucket for what may come flying out of your back-end once the OBT starts lunging for you with fangs dripping large amounts of venom.
I have a fine collection of tweezers. I switch them out constantly depending on what T i'm feeding and what container they're in. I typically grab the cricket forcefully with the tweezers and stick them through a small opening in the enclosure. I did just have an "uh oh" moment with my LP. I...
arboreals would be great in there. I have a bunch of kritter keepers that I keep various Ts in. Just be sure to put some weight on the openings. I have some Ts that seem to have learned where the little door is.
yep, I already have the LP. I like the smooth look of the king baboon and the goliath. I was kind of looking for another T that has that red velvet look.
I put my tank on its front so I could have the easy access for my shelving. I did it RobC style. So far it's working out perfectly. I just have to dremmel a little off a couple of the doors. I ended up buying some cheap brass hinges that seem to be working fine and attached them with small...
Ok. So i currently do own a full grown T Blondi and a Citharischius crawshayi. What are another couple T's that are similar to these two? I like these big powerful tarantulas. They are great display Ts.
Thanks,
Marcus
This is actually what my enclosure looks like. I tipped my 10 gallon on its side and have a 4inch area for substrate. I have three individual lids for each section. I'm just trying to find the perfect way to secure each lid.
I actually just went to Lowes to figure out a solution. They ended up cutting it all for me...for free! I had 14 little pieces I needed and the guy did it with no questions asked. So far for first placement and double checking things they seem to fit perfectly. Lets just hope I can do this...
