That list is complete. Compare it to that of the World Spider Catalog. If you are aware of species that are missing I would be interested to know which ones you are thinking about. No new Aphonopelma species have been named in the U.S. in sometime (1990s) and no real published revision of...
My first reference for tarantulas was the TKG. It does provide a good, basic introduction to keeping tarantulas. However, I gleaned probably the same information, probably much more and more up-to-date, from searching these boards (for free, or the cost of my internet service) - an...
Given recent work that has been conducted on Aphonopelma (see references below), morphological and genetic data all point to a single species across Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, and Oklahoma. While it is true that it is quite hard to identify an Aphonopelma to species, if you have an...
Given the location, it is most assuredly an A. hentzi.

Andrew Smith's (1995) publication on the tarantulas of the U.S and Mexico maps localities for most Aphonoplema species known up to that date. I have found that publication to often be geographically inaccurate, however. Below is a list of the species described from California with what little...
Aphonopelma species described from Texas:
A. anax
A. armada
A. arnoldi
A. breenei
A. clarki
A. gurleyi
A. harlingenum
A. heterops
A. hollyi
A. moderatum
A. mordax
A. steindachneri
A. texensis
A. waconum
The vast majority are "bad" species - probably not taxonomically valid...

I have constructed a Google map depicting the published type localities of all Aphonopelma species described from the south-central United States (Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas)...
I didn't formally synonymize odelli with hentzi, but you would be hard-pressed to actually identify an odelli using the scant characters described for the species by Smith. Same goes for other south-central Aphonopelma species in Oklahoma and portions of Texas. Species like A. odelli, A...
I concur, get that hot rock out of there! Tigers do just fine at room temperature - don't need any additiional heat at all. Also, add a few more inches of moist substrate for burrowing.
