Doesn't look bad. Only advice I can give is to seal it somehow. Only reason I mention that is on a dry environment they work great but in really humid ones if it can't dry out regularly they will mildew, but of course most things will if it's not ventilated well enough and allowed some drying...

Just let it be. It'll come out when it needs something. Sometimes they come out and you never know it. It isn't going to commit suicide it knows what it needs to survive and part of that is doing what T's do best naturally... hide so a predator won't find them.

100% agree with Pitbulllady and everyone else. Don't allow your kid to participate if you don't want them to get bit. If you or you allow someone like your child to touch an animal expect that for whatever reason the animal could bite. Every animal has the potential to bite.
