Another vote for P. metallica. The vibrant blue color, tendency to stay out in the open and arboreal nature are all plus points for me.

I'd wait for them to turn 2nd instar and get off mom's back. They will do this in a week's time (more or less). Less stress on you and the scorps :)

IMO, those are fine. ( although I usually go from vial -> deli cup -> smallest KK -> 5 gallon. Now I have too many extra containers).

Yes, there are males and females. Can't speak for other populations but the WC L. australasiae populations here in the Philippines are parthenogenic.
