Anyone Know Where to Get Predatory Mites?

Hello, I have had intermittent problems with phorid flies in my roach colonies (which then spread to my reptile enclosures too!). I have tried the drying and cleaning method but with the reptiles there too it is really hard to completely remove them. Does anyone know where I can get some...

What Tarantula Species Drops Its Limbs Most Often?

Absolutely, the more comments/discussion the better! The same species is actually what we want for statistically testing the effects. If we had different species, we would run into problems of comparability among the data. Yes, it is true that non-independence can be controlled for...

What Tarantula Species Drops Its Limbs Most Often?

Thanks for the opinions everybody, anymore out there?? We are more interested the consequences of limb loss on locomotion as opposed to the adaptive type story you mention. If in the wild tarantulas (and other spiders) loose their limbs (for whatever reason), they still have to maintain a...

    worm in with my b.dubia

Just be careful though, the adults will bite if they get out. Also, they can and will eat old books too (or really anything organic) if they get out. We kept a couple large colonies of these in grad school as a way to skeletonize fish. More than once we discovered an escapee after it had...

How to remove vaseline from a tank

Nope, no residue. To the best of my knowledge. And the good thing about that particular cleaner is that it is non-toxic and biodegradable (of course this is in reference to humans and domestic pets in terms of toxicity).

Hello - Like most roach keepers, I have struggled with how to remove Vaseline from a roach tank either after I have changed tanks or when I need to replace the Vaseline. I stumbled upon a solution that works! I started with removing all the Vaseline that I could with a few wipes of a...

Green banana (Panchlora nivea) and porcelain roach (Gyna lurida) Tank Setups?

Thanks for the info! Do you secure the mesh to a screen top or do you use some other apparatus to keep it on top? I use a fine mesh attached to a 10 gal screen top for my hissers and it works quite well (along with the vaseline) at keeping them in. Thanks again

Green banana (Panchlora nivea) and porcelain roach (Gyna lurida) Tank Setups?

Hello - I have a question regarding the tank set ups for green banana (Panchlora nivea) and porcelain roach (Gyna lurida) species. From what I can find online they both need some form of substrate (coco bark is typically recommended) and things to hide under (small cork bark or egg crates)...

Hello - I have recently obtained a small dubia colony that I have been raising for about 3 months now. I currently have 4 Ts (2 G. rosea, 1 L. parahybana, and 1 P. regalis). My question regards switching tarantulas over to dubia from crickets. My two rosea have been eating crickets and I...
