My GBB took forever to molt. Was about 2' when it went into premolt and stopped eating...two months later it molted out to nearly 3' and I beleve it's a male. Great T's I love mine.
Had to rehouse my female redknee lastnight. I recieved an immature male from rknralf some time ago and my female just went bonkers when he was introduced into the same room at least three feet from the females enclosure.
Her behavior started with drumming, climbing, and some weird posturing...
My 1" P. regalis also had a bad molt recently. It's left rear leg is shriveled and hangs over the top of it's abdomen. Other than that it's fine and eating so I'm hoping that the problem will be corrected on the next molt or two. It does kinda make me wonder now though if it will have future...
My little 1" P.egalis molted on the 23rd and it's left rear leg is really funky looking now. Its smaller and thinner than the rest and literally hangs crossed over the top of it's abdomen, totally immobile. Hoping that it will straighten out on the next molt or two. It's eating and getting...
This brings to mind another question to my demented mind. If tarantulas can sense their own and other species so easily...It makes me wonder how keeping multiple species in close proximity to eachother may affect their behaviors, or if it might stress them out? Examle being two species that are...
I recieved a 4" immature male B. smithi today from rknralf (Thanks again Ralph!) for future breeding with my mature female B. smithi. I just looked in on all the T's and the female B. smithi is hanging at the top corner of her tank nearest the males tank and shes DRUMMING like crazy!! They are...
Actually its for my new P. regalis sling...its only 1". Was thinking of hollowing out a small chunk of balsa I have to give it a climbing/hiding place. Hate to pay $8-12 for a piece of cork bark only to chop it up into little pieces if I can use the balsa.
Anyone know if Balsa wood would be ok for use in an arboreal enclosure? Just want to make sure it's not toxic as some other woods are to T's like cedar or pine. thanks for any input.
Storm, what your describing sounds like a Nematode Worm infection. Do a search her on the boards for "Nematode Worms" you'll find lots of info on the subject. Good luck with the T.
Hey rosehaired1979 glad to hear you got your T's yesterday, Mine came in also about 2 p.m. I'll try to post some pics this weekend if my junky JamCam will work.
Fed my A. seemanni (4-4 1/2") a good sized pinky the other day. Just now...I went to remove the leftovers fron its encosure, figured the bolus would be down in its burrow since I couldnt see it above ground. I can see all the way into its burrow after coaxing it out...but there is no bolus from...
4-13 recieved a 1" P. regalis and 1" P. murinus freebie from Swift's. Kelly is the man in my book...also sent free pinners for the babes to munch on.
4-15 recieved (finally) 1/4" B. auratum, G. aureostriata, and E. campestratus freebie from Spiderhouse.
Also woke up to find my 2" C...
I found my 2" C. cyaneopubescens just finishing up its molt this morning. Pretty sure its male, couldnt see any sign of spermatheca under magnification. Man, I need to buy a digital camera....lol.
Just got a couple new youngsters in from Swifts.
1" P. regalis..... :D woohoooo!!!!!
1" P. murinus
Also supposed to be getting another order in for...
B. auratum, G. aureostriatum, and unknown freebie.
Have a question about the P. regalis though. How much ventilation should I...
Ok, for those of you that have raised a MALE B. smithi to it's mature molt.....
How long did it take? I'll be getting a male B. smithi in a couple weeks that is in the 3 to 3 1/2 inch range and I'm just wondering how long it may take it, at that size, to reach it's mature molt. I have a...
I dont know where you got this info from but it's very wrong. The only way a tarantula could possibly drown is if it were a small spiderling or juvenile and the water container was way too deep or wide for it.
As others have said before....tarantulas have a "sucking" stomach and cannot...
