I think the whole idea of a chicken eating tarantula doesn't deserve as much attention as it got. Afterall, a hungry T will eat anything it can actually take down and we as T keepers won't be that intrigued by it because most of us definately fed mice anoles and so on to our bigger Ts. The only...
well i was going t start a new thread, but since my question is substrate related ill ask here.... i got quite a few crickets hatched in my l.parahybana's kreeters keeper (bout 3.5-4")....do the pinheads bother the T at all? should i worry bout my T gettin bitten by these lil annoying things? do...
It's funny how lots of people made a comment that a frozen one would b just as good and it would be way more humane. I don't think you people realize that frozen mice and rats that you buy arent just born dead. They die quite a horrible death being frozen alive and that doesnt take 10-20 seconds...
B.Smithi are generally pretty good eaters so Id think yours is in premolt. I mostly offer live food n my slings manage 2 take down quite large prey. My 3/4's c.fasciatums take on crickets the size of their leg span. same about about my e.murinus. When my b.smithi was just under 2" it readily...
I did use the exacto knife on her... was really upsetting to hurt the lil bug :( ... the worst part of it is that other 7 legs that were stuck were still deep inside the molt.. so i pretty much had 2 cut off entire legs.... now i got a T free of its excoskeleton... with no pedipals... n missing...
one of my e.murinus slings just had a bad molt.. i found it 2day in the mornin molting and it was already in a weird pose (1 leg out.. everythin else is still in old exco skeleton... i came home from school n found it same way... i took a close look n i think its skin got stuck n the web n thats...
Funniest thing ever.... one of my friends who works in a grocery store, found a black widow while unpacking freshly arrived grapes... well obviously he gave it to me :) so whoever has experience with these guys, i would certainly appriciate some advices on how to keep the lil fella.... chances...
One of my obt slings, which now became an incher in leg span didnt do that great this molt... :( first of all it didnt flip over when it was moltin, it just started moltin right side up , i saw it molt, it was pretty much steppin out of its shed..... the end results.... 1 missing rear leg, 1...
talking about lying pet stores.... when i was buying my G.Rosea as a frist T..(around 5 inches) i was told numerous times that shes 8 months old, and guess what.. that she molted just 3 days b4 i bought her.... then when i was getting a b.smithi i could either get a "2 month old 1/2" sling" or...
Pokies are actually the best Ts to keep as a communal setup. Ive seen myself very nice communal setups with 3-7 pokies in it. From what i heard theres more risk in keeping avics together than pokies
since i was like 5 i always favored any preditors. i even fed insects to ants near my cottage, held spiders in jars n so on lol, my parents weren't that excited about me doing all that... well 11 years later and i've got 16 Ts, 5 scorps 2 beardies and a guinea pig... they are still not excited...
I'd go with a B.smithi... out of 16 T's i own that range from 1/2 to 6" my redknee that i raised from 1" to 4" is my 100% favorite, amazing looking spiders , great feeding response and very docile, kicks hairs sometimes but other than that, its a perfect T :worship:
the temp ranges from 70-78 between night and day time so i don't think that was the reason. In terms of humidity i already said, it was fairly dry, i put a few drops of water n on like 3-4th day of the molt n it didn't seem 2 be interested in it...plus from what i know these scorps don't need 2...
I've got a communal setup with 5 c.vittatus scorplings (they are still tiny 1/2's).... most of them stopped eating like a month ago, finally last week one of them molted for the first time :D, i separated it from other 4 since he needed to harden and i was not really sure if i could keep 4...
I think scorps are just a bit more impressive/scary than T's to an average n00b who is getting into a hobbie and us(guys) tend to go for dumb stuff :wall: , when i was getting into T's i wouldn't even consider those scary scorps... things changed since then lol :}
I think P.Subfusca is WAY nicer than a metallica....too bad the price is far too much for me so ill stick with my regalis for now, and already got my eyes on ornata or formosa... which 1 should be my next pick is the question :?
