    Dart frog Q

Nothing bad will happen, but males don't live as long, are noisier, and of course can't breed without females. Bigger = good! A 20+ gallon aquarium can make one hell of a nice display piece if you're willing to spend the time and money on it.

    Dart frog Q

Those prices are pretty average, but watch when buying older froglets (like the 3-6 month D. aratus you mention) that you don't get all males.

    Scorpling Question

Whatever measures you take, it's also a good idea to place the enclosure full of babies in a shallow pan filled with water. If they do get out, they can't go far and it keeps ants away.

    Haplopelma "minax" ???

"longipedum" is a very good guess, based on the structure of the back legs. If it's a minax it will have the white "beard" like H. schmidti

    P. murinus breeding

Ralph - it should be fine. I've bred a female P. lugardi as close as 93 days from her laying a previous sac, then molting. As long as she is at proper "weight" again I don't see any problems. If she isn't ready she will surely let you know ;)

    My androctronus australis and bicolor

I don't have any A. australis myself. The hottest scorps I keep are Parabuthus spp. I know someone here must have some female A. australis or A. bicolor pics they can share. (<----TimR this means you ;) show off that bicolor )

    My androctronus australis and bicolor

The males have a bulbous appearance to the manus (tibial section of the chela) while the females have a much slimmer appearing one. This doesn't apply to all members of the Buthus family, but it does apply to Androctronus and Parabuthus, as well as others I'm sure. If you look at a male and...

    My androctronus australis and bicolor

    Mateing

Don't count the murinus out yet. In my experience often times the male will live happily with the female until she prepares to molt or lay the sack. Then she promptly eats him. :p Very nice sequence of pictures of the blondi mating as well

By references, I mean proof. Unless of course this is another off the cuff fantasy post.

    tarantula sp native to Ghana

These tarantulas are found in the forests and scrub of west equitorial Africa: Heteroscodra maculata Stromatopelma calceatum Ischnocolus spp. Hysterocrates spp. There is "supposedly" a smaller unidentified tarantula or large mygale of some sort that lives in the trees above the upper Black...

    brown recluse

A small size Critter Keeper is the right size, but the lid needs adjusting so that the vent holes arent too big. Put some sticks in one corner for their daytime sleeping/hiding web. Nope. You can try them in a M/F pair to try to breed them, but they will kill each other eventually. Yes...

    Tiny Frogs

What are you feeding them? How are you keeping them? I like to keep toads and other terresterial frogs on 3-4" of moist substrate, with an assortment of pillbugs and small soil millipedes for a clean up crew. A tupperware dish buried 1/2" from the top makes a good pond, and I always keep a...

Help me pick my next scorpion to fit these conditions

    C. gracilis fits the bill perfectly. You can have more than 2 of these in a 10 gallon tank with no divider as well. B. jacksoni is another possibility, though some people claim they are hot. Hottentotta sp. (trilineatus pet trade) would be good as well, though they may be hot depending...

    Tiny Frogs

Cool! They are likely cricket frogs (don't have a scientific name) and will only get 1" or so max size. Great little terrarium pets and make awsome bait if your fishing for bream lol.

    Praying Mantis Suppliers

I'm sure part of the reason is the HUGELY stupid mass spraying program used in your part of the country to combat gypsy moth catterpillars. Random killing of prey via insectacides can't be good for any population of predatory insects. We have the same problem in the Shenandoah National Park...

    Peat Moss

I just be sure to buy 100% organic peat and use it right out of the bag. I've never had an issue of anything growing or hatching out of peat moss like you will have with soil.
