Let's not personally insult the pet store employees. Many of them get played low wages and aren't properly trained. While they should be, to call them stupid is not very fair. Many of them are just there to get payed, and they happen to like animals. While agree they should be more "intuitive"...

Ahhh, gender specific naming. It works for a while, but I gave up on that a while ago. I personally gave up trying to name my spiders. At any good point I had 35-40 spiders (including other true spiders), and I found it difficult (and worthless) to name them since I always forgot. I think...

Definitly NO to the cotton. Cotton festers bacteria, as do spounges. You should just mist more frequently til it reaches 3 inches or so, then provide a water dish.
