Thanks guys, I've honestly never had that happen in the 8 yrs I've been in the hobby, cold blood said it best but it's true, just waiting for it to happen, I guess my luck had just run out
I had 2 B. vagans in a split tank, one male and one female. To my horror upon checking on all of my babies, I found this. ... yes I cried she must have gotten over somehow. Never underestimate the size a spider can fit through. ... live and learn:grumpy:
This is why I did what I did. I didn't want to see her suffer, not being able to control movements and catch prey. She could no longer climb in get web without fumbling about, she could not control the moment of her fangs. She molted in Sept. I gave her that long in hopes she'd recover...
Obviously that's not normal tarantula behavior, she hadn't eaten since September and she wasn't getting any better. I couldn't let her suffer. There's no way to fix that kind of neurological issue. I didn't want to
So I decided to let her go after the video, there was nothing that could be done. She was lying on her back in the dirt, and when I moved her around she reacted like you see in the video. ..I had her for 5 yrs and I sure loved her

I have been keeping dubia roaches off and on for a few yrs. a couple of years ago, after getting an allergy test done and finding out I am also allergic to "roaches" which most people are with allergies, had a pretty serious reaction in which I had to use an inhaler and benadryl. I started...
update on my girl, she still looks pretty awful and has not eaten since. this evening when misting her cage, she REALLY freaked out, acted like she couldn't hold on, fangs flailing(ive never seen that), very uncontrolled movements. i think this molt may have done more damage than just looks
Her legs are really rubbery and she can't control them bending or not. I may not be 100% wet molt but I know tarantulas don't look like that. I've had a few wet molts that were more deformed. As a pink toe, I've never seen the versicolor look like that after a molt. She just doesn't look normal
Im pretty sad, did some research here after this happened. Only happened 2 other times with males. This girl, had her for about 5 yrs and she just molted sometime last night. Lost a leg, surprisingly she is climbing on her web. Maybe there is hope, I know the mortality rate is high, this is the...
I will definitely continue following this as i just ordered 2 cb babies from ken! I am very excited to see these little creatures in action. I wish you success in your breeding!*
