    Communal or Single Avic Avic?

I have personally kept and even bred A. avicularia in a communal set up for over 3 years now the key seems to be providing enough space and decent cover for all. I have 3 large females in a 40 gallon tall tank.

which Ts have the highest mortality rate in captivity?

I have to agree with gumby about the Avics. I had 86 A. avicularia hatch out last summer and from that clutch only lost 2. The only other Avic I have lost was a MM and he molted again after breeding losing his pedipalps completely in the process and then lived for another year before dying...

    Hermaphrodite Tarantula?

I know in certain species of fish in the absence of a mature male a female can switch sexes and I believe this occurs with some reptiles as well. Other reptiles are capable of parthnogenisis (not sure I spelled that right). So who knows what we still have to discover about our eight legged friends.

    Sponges are bad

The sponges do speed up the evaporation from the water dish and as such may help raise humidity in the air inside the enclosure, but that is the only good thing I can think of to say about sponges other than that the are a breeding ground for bacteria and mold.

i hate petco aswell but.... could this b a good deal

Unfortunately it seems to be standard practice with some of the larger pet stores to mark down the price on sick animals so they can sell them fast and cut the losses. By purchasing these animals to save them we only encourage the store to continue to do business this way. Sadly the best thing...
