This actually happened last week to my wife. We have a 1" sling and we didn't know much about this species and assumed it was fairly docile. Anyway, the little guy bit my wife as she was doing container maintenance. I watched as she calmly removed her hand and replaced the lid, then looked at me...
I saw these awesome spiders all over Thailand (we jst bought a house in Bangkok and there is one in the back garden). I'm assuming it is some kind of orb weaver - it is about 6 inches in length and apparently they do bite but I didn't want to find out.
Anyone know what it is and whether or...
Well from your list I have a B Smithi, B Absolipum and A Seemanni. The Smithi is the most attractive but an adult will be pretty expensive. Mine is pretty docile although she tends to kick hairs a lot. The B Absolipum is a really great spider - very active, calm and eats all day! We regularly...
Well as a child living in Australia I had bad experiences with spiders (got bitten by a red-back - f*cking hurt like hell) and that put me off spiders. When we moved to England I still had the fear despite the fact that no English spider will hurt you.
I got married 5 years ago and my wife is...
Most expensiv I've paid for is £85 for a sub-adult B Smithi. Most expensive I've seen is £200 for an Atrax Robustus (Sydney Funnel Web Spider) although I can't believe anybody wants to buy that in the UK!
As far as different names go, the website I have ordered the T from is calling it a Peru Striped. I assume therefore that the T must have stripes on its legs - either that or I have ordered a completely random T that the store has incorrectly labeled!
Cool, thx for the reply. is the spider defensive at all (i.e. do you handle yours?). Also was it fast growing? Finally, what humidity/temp do you keep it at? I have a healthy Seemanni and I am guessing the environment would need to be similar?
Well I went and ordered it anyway. Seems like not many people own this T and there is hardly any info on the net so I am taking my chances. I got a really good price.
Hi all
I am thinking of purchasing this T but I have never seen this species for sale and haven't been able to track down any caresheets. Does anybody own this T and if so can they tell me about it in terms of temperament, size and set-up requirements? Also, what is the common name for this...
Thing is she's only a juvenile (about 3.5 inch legspan) and had moulted just before we left for holiday. I am quite keen to get her full size ASAP but is there a risk of her having a bad moult if she gets too big too fast? Little bugger has always had a massive appetite compared to my Seemanni.
Well my wife and I recently came back from a 3 and a half week holiday in thailand during which time we left our 3 T's at home with no food but plenty of water. When we returned we obviously started feeding the T's. The Seemanni and Smithi both took 4 medium black crickets each and have stopped...
I bought a juvenile curlyhair a couple of days ago and it eats anything I put in there. So far today she has eaten 9 medium brown crickets and she ate 4 yesterday! She has yet to refuse a meal!
My local pet store had one of these in today (also known as New Guinea Rust Orange). It is an absolutely stunning T with price to match and I was wondering if anybody else had one of these and if so what are they like in terms or temperament/speed etc.
I don't want to spend a load of money on...
Actually, Brispofan31 is not entirely correct in the assertion that the Australian Red Back and Funnel Webs are the only arachnids with potentially fatal venom to humans (I myself have been bitten by a redback and it hurts I can tell you!!!).
The Brazilian Wandering Spider has a highly...
BTW - what kind of bolus do you get from a pinkie? Is the cage really rank afterwards? I haven't actually seen the damage a T does to a pinkie so I don't know.
Adding to my earlier post about P.Regalis and A.Seemanni having led to fatal bites, in the case of the Regalis the victim succumbed to the toxins themselves (i.e. they were potent enough to kill the guy in India who did not have access to medical facilities - he died 3 days after envenomation)...
