    Setup advice...for new member

Nice Avic. you got there. Hand raised or not spiders are not birds or hamsters. If they feel thretened they will defend themselves. This species can be very skittish. If you handle Ts at all these would be my first or second choice. They need the hight not the floor space as they are...

    A. geniculata vs. A. brocklehursti

I have a Brockelhursti and absolutly love her. IMO she looks more than different enough to warrent the purchase. She is a little slimmer than a Genic and has a more defined leg striping and brighter abdomen color. Also the segment striping does not extend down into the third or fourth leg...

    appetite survey

In sheer volume, I would have to go with my Blondi. She will eat 1 - 2 rat pups and 6 - 10 pinkies in a week. IF just crickets I would say my G.Rosea (she is a surprisingly large eater).

how doe this obt enclosure look

The no hide thing is a good way to go. The two I have make there own hides and then they are gone. "poof" I like to open the web hides once and a while and make them construct a new one. That is the only time I can really see either of them! This can stress them out though, so don't do...

Welcome to this forum. From a person that recently found this forum too.

Is my T's enclosure too small ?

Looks fine. Just another thing to point out is too much room can also make it difficult for your T to find it's prey.

    Spider Housing

I use a twin ceramic oscillating electric space heater, but my T,s are in a closet converted especialy for them. I would say it is safe as long as you don't put anything flammable near it.

    lighting requirements-if any

I agree that they don't really have any lighting requirments, except for, possible, breeding. I have gone to the extreme of having my "daytime" lights on a timer. That is because they have no natural light. I also have a red light for night viewing. I don't leave it on, but I could as light...

    "Die Pinkie, DIEEEEEEEEEEE"

I feed my Blondi Rat pups as crickets and pinkies are to small. The rat pups are alive, she will not touch anything that doesn't move. And every once in a while I will feed pinkies to a couple of my other T's for variety and extra calories.

    Avicularia Terrarium

The set up looks great for a larger T (IMO). I have my A.avic in a 5 gal set up like that, but he is 3 1/2". If it is eating and is having no problems finding the water dish then perhaps you should leave everything as is. I would not put that small a T in that big a tank myself. Just keep an...

    T.Blondi attracted to light?

My Blondi gets stage fright if there is any change in lighting or sound of any kind. She will move around alot at night though. She absolutly refuses any kind of hide. I have a bowl cut out and burried but she has filled it in every time I dig it out.

    Wrong Substrate?

I agree with da_illist as fer as the Repti-bark. As for the substrate, I use a peat moss/vermiculite mix and throw in some potting soil to give the peat moss some added stability so large burrows don't collapse.

    H. maculata pics

that's a pretty T. I just got this species as a sling and can't wait to see it when it is larger.

    Pterinochilus Murinus

I would have to agree with MrT when he says it would probably be safe to wait a week to feed it again. On the frog or anole question I think they would fight back too much and you could risk an injury to your T when you could just keep feeding it crickets. My 2" eats 1 or 2 large crickets...

    Question about substrate

I use a combo of potting soil and peat moss (mixture varies by species) with a touch of vermiculite. I started by using Bead-a-Beast, but changed over shortly after realizing it was not good for my T's

    T. blondi climbing glass?

I have a 6.5" female and I added alot of substrate. when I put her in the 10 gal tank I had it filled about 1/3. well she tried to find a way out and in doing so I watched in horror as she fell from the screen top. so I added 1/3 again the substrate. Worry over!!! And let me tell you the...
