Not at all. ICU's are useful for many things in getting a T back to health. Not only hydrating. http://people.ucalgary.ca/~schultz/icu10.html
They also are used to help a t that is stuck in a molt. I can't think of the other reasons to use an ICU at this moment.
Ahh that is true! To the op can you post a ventral shot of your t so we can determine the sex? What you describe though by him being more and more active, walking around the cage, makes me think he may be a male searching for a female. Females would stay in the burrow.
In my opinion it does, he/she looks really rosy and fresh to me. And if I'm not mistaken, rosea like it extremely dry. I don't keep tarantulas anymore but I remember when I had my rosea the substrate was super dry with only the water bowl as her moisture.
Looks like a fresh molt to me. Substrate could be a little on the dry side as well for rosea.

A ventral shot would help us determine the sex.
Here are just a few of mine. I have 6 total(gonna be 7 next weekend :D )
And this is my very first chameleon I got. I took him outside one day some time back in june to live outdoors for a while. He escaped from his cage and I couldn't find him for 2 months. He...
I went to the super show in Pamona yesterday. I had a blast. I got to meet a few members. This guy is an Ambanja panther chameleon sired by Dr. Gonzo. Dr. Gonzo was featured on the cover of Reptiles Magazine :)
She acted a little sluggish but after the molt she went back to acting normal. I don't think I have a pic of it anymore, I had to delete most of the pics off my photobucket account to make room. If I find it I'll send it to you via pm.
I really wouldn't risk it. My H. mac had almost the same thing your girl has. She molted out of just fine. You wouldn't want her abdomen to rupture from doing this! Crossin my fingers for you rob!
I wouldn't use that method. It some times can be very tricky using that. I tried to sex one of my metallica like that and it looked female but under the right like it looked male. So I would just stick to molt sexing.
He's grown up so nicely and also has grown to hate me! Here are some new pics of my chameleon, peppermint
also, this is the thread from when I just got him!

You should have her housed in an all screened enclosure(unless you live in Canada than it's ok) You need a 5.0 reptisun linear uvb bulb and a 60 watt normal house bulb for basking. Sorry I just want to make sure you're caring for her correctly, petstores can give false info and in the end the...
Nice female :) You'll have a hard time finding out the locale of your chameleon though since it is a female. Where'd you get her? What was she sold as? Also your setup doesn't look good enough for a cham. Could you post pics of your setup please with all the lighting and stuff?
