    G. Pulchra struggling to make web

She did it! She's OK! When I said she was going slowly, at that point she had been in the same position, without moving, for over 12 hours. In all it took over 30 hours. She's never taken that long before, normally taking less than a quarter of that time. Still, she's done now and I couldn't...

    G. Pulchra struggling to make web

Well, she's managed to make a web and she is now moulting. But it's going very, very slowly and I'm all worried again! I've had her in the bathroom with the shower running, she's nice and warm and humid. I think I've done all I can, I'll just have to wait. She's about 10 years old and until...

    G. Pulchra struggling to make web

I have a female g. pulchra, she is about 10 years old. When she last molted she had a bit of a problem with one of her spinnerets, a piece of the old skin seemed to stick to it. I tried to help with a damp cotton bud and some tweezers, but she's had problems with it ever since. She can make...

    Escape Mistakes

Never had an actual escape but that was by luck then good management. Every so often I'd spot the lid of my Rosie's KK style tank open, this happened a few times before I worked out what was happening. I had assumed the T was pushing it open but the T was quite happy to stay inside his home...

    Coconut coir

I'd have to dry it thoroughly anyway because her viv is wooden and I'd dread to think what would happen to it if it was left with damp substrate sitting on it. I've had a look around and I've seen it advertised for use with snakes, I just wondered what people who have tried it thought of it and...

    Coconut coir

Has anyone tried using this substrate for snakes? I have a surplus of the stuff and a Corn snake that needs it's substrate changing. Would it be suitable or a total no no? If not, why not? Out of curiosity.

    jumping spider

I doubt it would get much bigger. The more common Zebra Spider (Salticus scenicus) gets to about 5 or 6mm I think, and yours is a smaller species. From what I can gather they like other spiders to eat so you could try Money Spiders.

    jumping spider

We've onyl got two types of Jumping Spider in the UK. The one you have there is the Fence Post Jumper (Marpissa muscosa). I've only ever seen one before and it was on a fence post (unsurprisingly) in our garden.

    Grammastola pulchra

If I was to handle on of my Ts it would be the G. Pulchra. She is really docile. The only thing that would worry me, and possibly anyone else handling one for the first time, is that she uses her fangs a lot for climbing, digging and hanging onto things. If she was to stretch those things out...

    Predators of the fire ant?

I can only suggest the traditional kettle of boiling water poured into the nest. Perhaps it's just a British thing?

    how does sound/activity affect T's?

I have six Ts on shelves that I built onto my desk. I play music through my PC pretty loud sometimes, I play Bass Guitar, Guitar and Banjo just a few feet away from them, it can be pretty noisey in here sometimes. I'm practically nocturnal so they get light most of the night as well as normal...

    Calling All Artists!!!!

You've got a couple of years yet before you can get a tattoo, plenty of time to research. You could do what I did and take a photo of one of your Ts and get an actual portrait done. Kevin Shercliff at the Midland Tattoo Centre in Cannock is supposed to be one of the best in the country. If you...

    BTS Event!?

I've been having a bad day and I'm not expressing myself well at all. I didn't mean to say that people couldn't be bothered to enforce the rules, I was typing as I was thinking which is why I said about not being able to keep and eye on everyone all the time, when I should just have just...

    BTS Event!?

I've only been to the last 3 expos but on all 3 occations I have witnessed traders handling Ts. I know about the non handling rule but I figured that they weren't bothered enough to enforce it. Mind you, you can't keep an eye on all of the traders all of the time. I would give names because I...

    My little bulldozer!

My B. Albopilosum is the only T I have that I would call a pet hole. I know he's very active, there's always new holes appearing or new piles of substrate popping up all over the place but I rarely see him.

    Pick your T species

I'd have to say G.Pulchra. I arrange my tanks so that my favourites are nearest to me and I can see them most often. I think I do it unconsciously. At the moment I have my G.Pulchra and my wife's A.Genic in the best spots as they're both intersting to watch but I think I prefer my G.Pulchra's...

    T synchronization

I quite often look at my Ts and find all or most of them standing in the same part of their enclosures, facing the same directions and often even their legs are in the same possitions as each other. It's not like they're trying to get nearer to or further from a heat or light source as the...
