Awesome Idea...
I think this is a great idea, especially for newbs like me. I've only had my T's for about 3 months and it would be great to have a database for comparisons.
Hey guys,
I posted on AB not long ago about my G. rosea dropping an eggsac. When I first saw the eggsac I didn't know what it was although it thought it might be an eggsac.
I opened it ever so slightly to check...and BINGO...eggs. I put the sac back into the enclosure. It looks like...
Hey Maroc...
I have a B. albopilosum sling...about 2" long, although it was about 1 cm when I purchased him.
The enclosure you put it in shouldn't be too big, just a few times its body size. Moisten the substrate once a week for hydration/humidity purposes. Feed it a crick a week. At that...
Talkenlate04...
How did you know? I don't doubt your ability, I was just curious as to how you sexed it. I'm still a total newb, I've only had T's since this past May. What are the known ways to sex a T?
Hole
I appreciate the replies fellas. I do have one other question concerning the sac.
I stated earlier that I had opened the sack a teensy bit, and I can still see eggs visibly. What should I do about that? Is that bad?
Thanks...
Hey KD thanks for the reply.
My G. rosea is a WC i picked up randomly at Petland. I dunno if it's been mated or not, but I suppose it probably has been as it's been out in the wild and whatnot.
What are the chances that it's fertile?
Me too!
You're not the only one! The other day I was at the exotic pet shop, where all of their T's are bred by the people in the store, or other breeders in the area.
They were selling 3/4" C. cyaneopubescens at $24.99, and I couldn't pass it up. The cheapest online deals that I have seen...
Cats!!!
Yeah I don't trust my cat either! I admit, I would have a dead cat if I came home and found my G. rosea's enclosure knocked over.
Luckily I'm back in college, and we can't have pets...and I don't...besides the 8 T's I snuck in lol, but no cats!
Do you have any other T's that...
Well guys...I've successfully sexed my adult G. rosea...because it laid an eggsac!!! Obviously female...
So what do I do? How does incubation work? In my ignorance earlier I pulled the eggsac out, and because I thought it had just rolled up a ball of web I pulled it apart ever so slightly...
Thanks...
Thanks for the pointers guys. Mine is a lot of fun to watch...quick little devil too. He just webbed a mound of dirt to close off the opening to his hide. I'm feeding my guys today, so perhaps he'll come out and eat.
He hasn't refused food lately, so I don't believe he's...
Hey guys,
I have done a search on this forum for S. rubronitens but have come up unfruitful as the first kazillion results are people selling them. What I was hoping to know is...
1.) How do you care for them?
2.) What are they like? Are they always so skittish? I have an s...
Thanks...
Thanks guys,
The more I think about it, the more I realize it's not really a big deal. It's actually kind of cool, my G. aureostriata webbed a mound of dirt in front of his hide lol. That little sucker has a lot of character.
Since he's been refusing food I'm going to go...
Well, as far as slings go...I have 6 also. Mine are growing well, moulting here and there, and seem to be happy. Here's what I do and what I have...
B. albopilosum
C. fasciatum
G. aureostraita
S. rubronitens
T. gigas
L. parahybana
I also have an Aphonopelma something however it's...
I have a C. fasciatum, and G. aureostriata that have sealed themselves beneath the dirt for some time now, and they're not eating. The fasciatum has been doing this for the past day or so, and the aureostriata just used dirt to seal his hide so you can't see in. They haven't been eating...
Thanks Bert,
I need to get a water dish in that enclosure A.S.A.P. then. I've been misting the enclosure and spraying the sides, etc... so it could drink from the beads of water, but it has reached 1.5" and so I'll put a soda bottle cap full of water in its enclosure. I can't wait until he...
Handling...
I handle my B. Albopilosum, and G. Aureostriata frequently, although they're both still slings lol. Interesting about the L. Parahybana being handleable though...I saw someone towards the beginning of this thread mention that.
I have a little 1/4 inch L. Parahybana, so I imagine...
