I have a question. I bought a P. Striata and compared it to my P. Regalis. I cannot tell them apart without seeing the cream band under the Regalis. Anyhow, it seems to me that Regalis, Striata, Smithi, Vitatta, Fasciata and Hanumavilasumica all look so similar that it seems that without careful...
Joe sent me a 7.5" P. Regalis and a 6" P. Metallica. There was some concern due to the cold both where he is (California) and where I am (Florida) but he timed everything right so the T's arrived perfectly fine. And both are GORGEOUS. I would definitely buy from them again.
I know that with Tarantula's give them more objects to explore in their enclosure so they don't feel out in the open. Does the same work for pedes? What about giving them a larger enclosure?
I have 4 A. Purpurea's that are all about 3 inches. I have a 12x12x18 Exo-terra and am thinking of putting them all in 1 with a number of hides so they all can have one. Could this be a success or would it be an easy way to cut down on my collection?
So anyhow a few weeks ago I had bought a 3" E. Trigonopodus and it did fine for a while. Well it died the other day and I am thinking I maybe kept it too moist? I originally poked very tiny holes in a tupperware container which I know wasn't ventilated too greatly. It seemed to prefer moisture...
I love pedes. I think they are even more beautiful than about 99.9999% of tarantula's. (Don't tell the people in the T forum that.)
I am making a shift into pedes away from T's since I have always been heavy into T's. I am curious about breeding. Are pedes easy to breed?
With T's you just...
They darken with age. The seem to max out on color when they are about 4".

BTW, I don't think it is black, just a really really dark midnight blue.
I've noticed that the best way to encourage your T's to go for a night walk outside their burrow is to spray the entire enclosure with water to simulate a rainfall. They will want to go out for a drink on the walls of the enclosure. It works for pokies anyway.
No T's substrate should be too damp. That invites mold and mites and flies other problems. I get a bag of cocoa fiber and mix it 1 for 1 with bed a beast.
I don't believe this...I threw her a cricket the other day after she refused food for 2 months and she pounced on it. I could have sworn she would have been in premolt by now. It's been 13 or 14 months since her last molt.
She won't molt. She has been in premolt and not eating for 2 months at least now. Maybe more. I have never has an OW T go this long without eating. She matured in 04. Has any one else experienced this?
