Chopped up fish and pig's heart is what the breeder told me to feed them, with an addition of calcium and vitamins. Thanks all of you for your responses!

    Garter snake substrate?

Hey guys! New to snakes, and I'm wondering what to use as substrate.. wood chips or newspapers? Got em on newspapers now... The guy I bought them from suggested wood chips, but from what I've read on this forum, they retain too much moisture that helps bacteria grow. Got a nicely sized water...

I got some spider,is it Lycosa sinensis Schenkel?

Looks like Lycosa singoriensis, but if it was found in China, that's probably not it. Beautiful spider nonetheless!

Like all Lycosidae, they are probably rather harmless.

    Calling all Wolfie Lovers...

Unfortunately, my ex took my camera when we split up, so I can't take pics of my three Lycosa tarantula females with sacs :/ At least two of them are fertile, probably not the third. Will try to get hold of a camera to take some pics when the babies hatch... the camera in iPhone 3 really sucks :(

    New to true spiders?

If this is what you're going for, try to get hold of a Dipluridae / Nemesiidae / Hexathelidae. The genera Macrothele (Hexathelidae) and Linothele (Dipluridae) are quite often for sale, fits your preferences (metallic/glossy and make sweet webs) and are just awesome spiders. Only "problem" is...

    maryland spider ID?

That looks like a Lycosidae to me, probably a Hogna sp. The posterior eyes are all wrong for a Dolomedes sp., so I suggest you go check those pics of eye arrangements again ;) Pics to show the eyes: Hogna carolinensis: http://bugguide.net/node/view/123336 Dolomedes tenebrosus...

how many of you are keeping phoneutria?

I've got a subadult pair of Phoneutria cf. reidyi. I've got a tremendous respect for these spiders. They're extremely fast and defensive.

Do you breed some of the stuff that isn't really in the hobby too? That Olios sp. from Peru is awesome (to just name one of all your beauties...). If I ever pass by your place.... ;)
