Picked up 2x P. Sazimai and 2x C. cyaneopubescens today.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Bored of looking at pretty spiders now though. I’ll have to make sure my next purchase is an angry brown old world pet hole lol!
A friend of mine has rapidly come into the hobby after seeing some of my Ts and scorpions a month ago, and now has a B. hamorii which i had surplus, and a colony of H. laoticus scorpions (10 from memory).
He would desperately like some "pretty/colourful" tarantulas but is put off by the...
This was given to me as an unknown spider. It would appear to be B. vagans with the colouration (?) but as it is a mature male i need to make sure, as i would like to use him as a first attempt at tarantula breeding if i can locate a suitable female.
I cannot work out how to upload any pictures. I have tried several URL conversion sites and image hosting and it will not work. What am i doing wrong??
I would say of the two suggestions it looks more like Nuctenea umbratica with the little dimples on the back. Hour or so and I’ll have some decent pictures.
Yes I washed it off straight away, and it resurrected itself about an hour after. It was living under a trim with no visible web of that makes a difference, though it has been maximum 5 degrees C recently.
The reason it caught my eye was it’s fangs. They are quite visible and it was making good...
Found this odd little spider today, unfortunately I was spraying gunk out of a car windscreen with brake cleaner, so it wasn’t very happy when it fell out. It appeared to be dead shortly after and was death curled, but has moved since so may pull through.
What is it?
Just going to dig this grave up quick, as im having second thoughts on this ID.
This tarantula has molted once or twice since this picture and been given a more appropriate place to live than its little cricket tub. It also seems like its been swapped for a completely different tarantula now...
I use Hypoaspis mites. They eat any mites, fungus gnat larvae or nematodes when available but will sustain themselves on mold, algae and dead plant matter. They do eat springtails, but they cant eat them fast enough to cause a negative effect on a springtail population, so i use them alongside...
Crickets cant resist a bit of suicide if they see water. A shallow deli cup full of water collects a surprising amount of crickets.
Roaches that escape tend to find their way to the tarantula vivs as the conditions are better for them.
The native spiders lurking behind everything tend to deal...
A sheet of acrylic plastic cut to size is about the best thing for it. Drill holes for ventilation.
There is condensation on the sides of the viv. This is a much better way to measure humidity than the gauge, and it looks pretty good as it is now.
