Considering the amount of chlorine they throw in I dont think that anything microbial would survive. This was also my primary concern.

Is using distilled water truely needed? Or is tap water just as good?

You will be fine, as long as they aren't bouncing around they should be fine. Just check them every once in a while.

I use just standard dirt from home improvement stores. Of course without chemicals.

Try not to have it icy cold. And keep them away from where the air goes. But there is nothing wrong with the air that comes from it. Ask your self if a cold blooded animal, which is tropical and requires a good bit of heat to live can survive the cold? As long as its not on all day it will be fine.

Sorry if this sounds mean but we get alot of these threads and they are too easy to look gotta remember most of the people on these boards have at least 10 tarantulas and think that everything they know is very basic information and forget that latin...

Spiders that have been kept for the purpose of fighting have difficulty being rehabilitated back into the wild due to the emotional damage that has been caused to them....... wow people really are retarded... Anyway besides the retards editing wikipedia, I see no problem with spider fighting...
