Whats the most you have spent or are willing to spend on a tarantula ?

My two pricey ones were both Brachys - juvenile smithi for £65 and a drive of about 3 hours - turned out to be female though so whoop whoop! Other one was a beautiful 6 inch female auratum for £70. Biggest rip off I think was £40 for my A genic whose one and only moult with me was its...

Need advise: Theraphosa with no fangs

I say stick with it, it'll be one of your proudest T keeping stories, and already is I'm sure! Plus that T deserves to be with you instead of someone who pays such little attention to their animals that theuy don't notice when pieces of it are missing! Godd work sir and keep it up! :worship:

    Help!!!!! I Dropped My Tarantula!!!!!

I have seen my A avic display some crrrrazy speed skills since having her - even spinning round like a Matrix scene on the glass and then instantly darting from glass to her branch without me realising she'd even moved before she stopped again - this species can be, so vicariously ARE - fast...

A genic bad moult - advise please.

Thanks everyone for your replies, very helpful and somewhat encouraging! He looks fine in himself, isn;t sitting weird, he's started to stretch out his front legs nicely - and the buggers put on some size too - so hopefully he's just doing it front first, back later! More...

A genic bad moult - advise please.

Hey man how ya doin? I have seen him move a bit but like I say none of his legs looks to be doing anything that well. He can move them, but just like a total invalid! But it doesn't have any DS appearance to it thoug which is good to know.

A genic bad moult - advise please.

I was hoping that was all it was, i'll keep an eye on him and hopefully they'll ping back into shape. He just looks so... broken! If anyone wants him for some "extra curricular activities" please let me know as he deserves his chance for a legacy like all the other boxing-gloved cassanova...

A genic bad moult - advise please.

Right guys - definitely a MM! Phew, that's one thing off the list. But like I said, back few legs look wrong... they have been in this position or close to it ever since he flipped back upright, and they are like it when he's moved, I haven;t caught him during a movement yet so can't be...

A genic bad moult - advise please.

Hey guys, Well what I hoped for is exactly the case - I have a MM A genic instead of a de-palped girly! However the back legs still look a bit wrong, they were this morning still crossed behind his rump as like a human doing breast stroke. I have a picture but can;t load up...

A genic bad moult - advise please.

That was what I hoped for - I've read lots of people posts with similar problems, and noticed plenty of people mentioning the T simply used it's foremost legs to do the jobs of the pedipalps in catching and manipulating prey items. I will get pics tonight for you guys to peruse....

Yeah I know I was on my way to work when I discovered her/his troubles - I'll get some tonight if I can.

A genic bad moult - advise please.

I am fairly certain, the pedipalps are showing the white of the 'joint' part as far as I can see, although I couldn't check for hooks due to the T being very huddled up against the side of the glass. The 'guess' factors such as bulkiness and how leggy it appears would suggest female. I'm am...

A genic bad moult - advise please.

Hi guys, I've been away for a while and I'm sorry to say I return with bad news. My young adult A genic Whitknee Houston moulted last night, and this morning she has clearly lost both her pedipalps apart from the femurs - she has nothing below the first joint. Also her two back legs look...

    Brazilian Salmon Pink juve pics?

here's mine, got her in may - she's moted twice and has gone from just under 3" to 4.25", and she's got balls too, just last night she beat the hell out of my tongs when I had the gaul to pick out some food boluses! Just after her last molt, like five mins after she rolled back over...

    Enclosure size

A good rule of thumb is there should be enough open floor space (in the hide can included in this) that you could hypothetically fit four of the spider in the space without them over lapping each other.

2 Haplopelma on the loose! LOL

My 6" B. auratum escaped when I went away last weekend, had the run of my flat for two days for all I know - found her in the airing cupboard next to the emersion heater.
