    Nightcrawler Identification

Why are Eisenia foetida toxic to snakes? I have been feeding them to amphibians for years and have never had any problems.

    Toad eating habits?

Well in the wild, a toad can overwinter without eating for 4-6 months with no problems. At room temperature, a toad with reasonable body weight could go for 2 months, possibly 3 or 4, but then it would be pushing starvation and death. I know I have personally not fed some of my toads for over a...

    Our new/first frog!

Make sure you remove all the little twigs and junk found in peat moss. I have lost a horned frog from swallowing a large twig that I didn't know was in the peat moss. Peat moss is also too acidic for amphibians (according to Amphibian Medicine and Captive Husbandry - Dr. Wright/Dr. Whitaker), so...

    Beetle Mating

Generally when you see two beetles mating, it is usually the male that is on the top, but are there some species where the females are on the top? Does anyone know of any links to beetle mating, specifically in regards to ground beetles of the Family Carabidae? Thanks.

    Tiny Bird

Yeah, like my homegirl PrettyHate had to say, birds fly! How do you suppose a bird will fly in a volume of 2.5 gallons? P.S. I really think you meant to type bug instead of bird. I do shat like that all the time.

    Tiny Bird

A freakin goldfish would be cramped in a 2.5 gallon tank, and you want to put a bird in there? Did you mean to type bug instead of bird, because that is a really odd question. You could always cruely jam a small bird in there, but when it dies a month later you will have a whiny kid on your hands.

    OMG has anyone seen this?!

They are only highlighting the bad. Notice how they only showed a few select "unhealthy" animals. Most old animals that have been used as breeders aren't in pristine condition. The narrator said, "this is what ive seen in 2 months as an...". It took 2 months to make a few minute video, which...

    Steatoda sp. - "wasteland pumpkins"

Yes, and yes. Males seem to be much harder to find, I would say that only about 1 in 30 or so that I come across is male, why is that? And I have some females that are younger, and larger, than some other females. I wanted to let one crawl on my hand tonight, but Im a pussy.

    Whites Tree Frog

Generally, something along the lines of about 20 gallons per frog, with about 10 gallons extra per each additional frog. No, they do not require UVB if enough vitamin d3 (and calcium!) is supplemented in the diet, but, UVB will only be beneficial if supplied.
