Just my opinion, but if I saw a T like that, I'd be worried with the front legs kind of tucked in. I've never had a T before, but that would look like a death curl to me. Cool looking T though, I've never seen one with purple on it.
Pacmaster your cage setups never cease to amaze, you can definitely tell you are passionate about whatever is being held inside. I would imagine to keep it all in tip top shape you have to constantly keep an eye on them and do the necessary maintenance ASAP! Still great nonetheless, I hope I can...
Lol, This will definitely be used in the future for all my answering purposes, great find!
@xhexdx
He was just razzing you a little bit, I'm sure no one is going to give you a hard time for that. For as long as I've been going to this forum you always have some of the most knowledgeable...
Really? I was going to say into the abdomen, but then again I don't know if I would be able to go through with it if the situation ever came up. If you were injecting it near the heart how much room would you have to work with? before breaking through until you'd reach the heart?
I think we were both right after searching some images on google and wikipedia, Avicularia being the Genus, and Versicolor being the species. But Still its just a guess of mine. {D
Is second a versicolor? The redish abdomen and the very slight blue on the carapace is why I asked. Not very good at ID'ing T's just yet so taking a stab at it.
Very good question, this Thread has peaked my interest. Wouldn't injecting the T with something be a bad thing, I Remember reading in the TTKG their blood doesn't clot. Also how much would you know to substitute?
Sorry not blood :P I meant Hemolymph.
Just curious, but is that mulch you have mixed into the substrate? or the one your using have mulch in it? If I remember correctly I was reading that its not a very good substrate at all and will actually harm your tarantula. If not disregard my comment, but just wanted to ask.
I'm sure there have been countless threads on this but I was on youtube and ran into some tarantula videos, so I had to take a look.
It amazes me and how many people there are that don't take the time to go to websites like this and at least get the basic knowledge you should get from care...
Was going to say the same thing. Well hopefully no more T's have to pay with their lives. Also like someone else said, feeder's are cheap Tarantulas are not. All I can say is to do your best and try to educate him as much as possible through what you know. If he ever gets his hand on some...
This is just my 2 cents, but if its an A. Avic isn't that an arboreal species? From the pictures taken it looks like its in more of a terrestrial setup (correct me if I'm wrong.) I think if you could get your hands on an enclosure built more for an arboreal species it would help with ventilation...
This thread has surprised me, I figured it would get deleted by a mod, I think this is turning into something that could be considered educational.
I've read a lot about T's and even have The Tarantula Keeper's Guide, but can't say I've read much on the details in breeding. Looking...
You said that he found these cockroach's? As in captured them himself Around the house? Has he ever had the house sprayed for any kind of bugs? Chances are if the house has been sprayed and the roach's were captured in the same environment it could have been something the spider ingested through...
I have yet to own a T just yet, but have been browsing for a good year or so soaking up all the info I can on many different species. Can't get one because of living conditions :(. As far as "Dream T's" go, I've always wanted a G. Aureostriata, or now I think its Pulchripes.. w/e.. Also I like...
The worst part about it was simply that the Tarantula used seemed as healthy as can be. Especially against a scorp who has armor, I call unfair play :shame: Why would you use such a fine specimen for something like that, oh so your friends think your cool over it? Just upsets me I guess, I...
If I read that right your saying she is drinking from a sponge... If that is the case that is not a very good way for them to get hydrated. Especially because a sponge can grow mold after a period of time, I suggest a small shallow water dish that she can drink of. For an sling I'm not sure what...
