They really do enjoy webbing don't they? Ain't it always the way with tarantulas, the prettier they are the more they like to hide.
Just ask my pet hole.
If you want a nice visible T maybe get a docile terestrial friend.
My 1st was a G Pulchra. I was looking for a docile T and preferred the terrestrials for their weight. The sleek look I had sleek black velvet look I'd seen in the photos I had seen had sold me on the pulchra.
By searching on google I found the site of another enthusiast who lives quite close...
I think this may be a case of the unsettled T thing. Almost none of my so called aggressive t's have been really easy going until they make their home... then they get nasty to defend what's theirs.
It's best to stick the mat to the side of the tank. A T's natural reaction to being too hot is to dig, if your mat is underneath then it will only get hotter.
It also solves the non flat lying tub too, while keeping the thermostat in place to avoid accidentally cooking your T ;)
<edit...
it pretty much is that common names are not generally agreed upon, you end up with having several for the same species. Or worse one for serveral species.
I can see why Ray can get quite passionate about it becuase ultimatley it just muddies the water somewhat.
IMO if you make sure you...
They'll be fine in there for a while, but they're not very pretty :( They can be pretty hard to stop drying out but for these little guys that's not really a problem.
They have 8 legs ;P
run a search.. they're a common enough spider nothing really special to note in the care dept. They're terrestrial, big and eat things that chirp. Don't worry too much about misting just keep a bowl of water in the tank. I keep mine at room temp and it's happy enough. I...
Try not to worry too much. I know it's hard at first. Remember T's live that much slower than we do, it's still recovering streching it's body into shape. Your T has just been through quite an event and will be a little out of sorts for a while.
As for what to do. There's really not much you...
It depends how recently the T lost the leg.
It usually will not regen a limb in one hit instead you'll find it will grow back in stages ie it'll have a little leg for a bit that will grow with each molt until restored.
