I actually wouldn't be too worried about your T dying in there as much as the VFT. They need to be outside in direct sunlight all day to grow properly :).
The smithi totally waits 'til you're asleep before she comes out;).
Try misting the substrate under the hide a little bit (without the spider in the hide, of course). That way, she won't really be stressed about it. She'll probably figure, "Hmmm.. I guess it rained," and then sit beside her...
A friend of mine who doesn't actually own, or know for that matter anything about snakes told me this. Only, it was a couple that were supposed to BOTH be eaten - haha.
IMO:
Hot dogs aren't goon for people, let alone Tegus ;)
Ground turkey, mice, grapes and various other fruits/vegetables are best for Tegus
Those basking temperatures seem a little high, so aim for about 95 degrees.
Life span can be around 20 years I believe.

I was going to buy from a breeder in Mississauga, but I like the idea of getting an iguana from a rescue...
I've been keeping T's for a little while now and finally decided to get a Green Iguana. I'll probably be picking it up within the next few days, but I wanted to see if it's housing setup is appropriate first.
(I know that this setup won't last long at all, I'm just going to use this until I...
Pfffffffffft.
Way to hijack my thread you twit.
(joking, lol).
That just looks like a bald patch, but perhaps someone with more experience can touch upon that.
Dishonest or not, you could have saved the frogs from a potentially harmful environment:)
Plus, everyone likes a good deal and I would definitely do the same.;)
I'm not saying that's the biggest threat to the animals. It was more her tone of voice that displayed her ignorance. Almost in an "Isn't there only one type of iguana" sort of way.
