Thank you all a million for your replies, you have been so useful! Im collecting her today so ill put some pictures up of how the old setup looks (the petshop one) and how it is after ive sorted it out.
:D :worship:
Havnt a clue about the Tarantula sorry but OMG you have the old Aliens action figures!!! Those things are like gold dust now!!! I used to have loads as a kid!!! *so jealous* :worship:
Great enclosure etown, obviously mine will be in the exo but im thinking of putting expanding foam around the back with rocks in etc and then substrate and a few low lying thick pieces of wood. Much like yours but on a smaller scale I guess.
LOL I dont blame you!
Good stuff. Any tips on moving them from one enclosure to another? Or boxing them ready to rehome?
Problem being is that I'm getting him already in the exo terra but im "rescuing" it from a local petshop, theyre keeping it in a disgusting state and so I'm gunna...
Thanks very much for the sound advice people, Its interesting to hear peoples differing opinions on these things, it seems everyone has a different experience to add in.
I already have a parahybana juvi (which is actually the devil incarnate) and ive got fast dangerous scorpions coming out...
Great stuff thanks for that. Ive NO intention of holding the monster lol I keep scorpions as well and use 12" tweezers even with my emperors, better safe than sorry really.
What are they like to re home? aside from the teleporting capabilities, any tips on doing this? such as in the bath etc?
I'm thinking of getting one, Its a juvi so not too big or small.
Ive searched through the posts and ive found loads of threads with people claiming theyre evil etc lol but no posts with people actually giving their experiences with these.
Im interested to hear what they are actually like...
If he starts to STINK then hes dead, otherwise leave him for about 48 hours and if hes in the same position hes prob dead. Make sure its humid enough and see how it goes. Is the telson dark red/ brown/ black?
30 if fine as far as temp goes, but you have to make sure the humidity is up in the high 80% at least. The substrate should be damp to the touch, to the point of being almost wet (but not quite, if you get what i mean).
Im guessing its emperor scorpions your keeping yes?
Cannibalism, regardless of how communal a species may seem, is always a present danger.
Unfortunately its probably just the case. People have known scorps to co inhabit for ages and then all of a sudden one will go mad and kill the rest.
Sorry for you loss man.
Haha yeh, most scorps are fine once out of their enclosure, they feel like they just wanna get somewhere dark lol
Hope you follow up on the false bottom etc, it will benefit your scorp no end. And in a 10 gal you could probably fit a few more, as long as there are enough hides :) That should at...
Thats right, if your worried about the microwave then oven cook it (but it might smell the kitchen out i dunno ive never tried it)
To be honest your best off getting rid of the black light bulb all together and either replacing it with a red light (scorps cant see red light and so come out...
You mentioned you have a black light that you use, I assume you dont have it on all the time? Anything more than a few seconds is dangerous, causes extreme stress and will eventually lead to your scorpion dying. Sorry if its been mentioned.
Also you mentioned that its constantly hiding etc...
How about something like a deli cup, with the lid on, partly submerged in the substrate but the deli cup is full of water absorbing crystals. The deli cup would have air holes all over it: bottom sides and top. That way the bottom air holes would draw the moisture from the substrate and the top...
