No, they are not T modesta. Peter Jager has determend that the species known as T modesta, is not a member of the Telcticopus genus. They are now placed in the Heteropoda genus. When this spider came into the trade, it was called T modesta. But the spider in the picture is defo NOT T modesta...
I found the article that was sent to me from Germany. On our German forum I was told by very knowlegeble people that T modesta is now H davidbowie.
I did not say T modesta doesn't exist.
Can you send me your e mail, I can't attach the file, because it's too big.
H davidbowie was known as T modesta. Revision has now put this species in the genus of Heteropodas. T modesta therefor no longer exists. But many people only know the former name.
Heteropoda=Sparassidae.
There are several Heteropoda species in Malaysia. Unfortunatly there is little info on the web about anything other then H venatoria, H boiei and H davidbowie (aka T modesta).
Found a T in a crate of imported plants at work. Normally I find true spiders, but this time it was a tarantula. The shipment came from Honduras.
Unfortunatlly she died the next day, eventhough she ate and drank.
She was about 3 inches (legs included), the color on the carapace looks like that...
The correct name is Cerbalus. Also known as Sinai desert huntsman. I have a few of these. There is a thread about this species on the forum here somewhere.
Haha reading may be difficult for some people:p
I also send these pictures to Peter Jager in Germany, but he was unable to ID based on pics alone. When the lady dies, I will send her to Peter and he will make an ID.
For the time being, I thought I'd try your knowlegde:p
Have a few babies...
Spiders comes from Thailand. Anyone any idea on what it is? She made an egg sac, which has hatched now.
I was thinking something like Olios sp or Polybetes sp.
I've had these, but for some reason they kept dying. Adults and young ones. Some friends of mine have had the same thing. I think they're absolutely beautiful, but I won't be keeping them again.
I'm going to buy this one later this week. Sol as Gorgyrella golden leg trapdoor. But I've done some reading and it seems that Gorgyrella is often not the correct name.
Does anyone know the exact scientific name of this spider:
(from Tanzania)
