I've poured water on one corner the enclosure, it got wet all the way down one that side. The top layer is drying out quickly, and one end of their tank is still pretty dry.
I'm pretty confident the heater was drying them out, because the side opposite it was staying more moist.
I've...
the lighting sucks, but hopefully this helps?
I probably have a screen lid lying around somewhere, so that's an easy fix! My main concern with that would be them drying out
I've been using water that's been through one of those filters you put in your fridge, is that alright?
I haven't...
Okay so here's the problem: I mist my millipedes often (sometimes multiple times a day) but the soil won't stay moist. The air is super humid, water builds up on the tank's lid. But the soil is almost dry.
It's a ten gallon tank with two bags of bugsincyberspace's millipede substrate. There's...
@Sterls
I keep them on bugsincyberspace's millipede substrate. They try to eat the bones I put in there, and even the plastic plants. Which I have since removed. Obviously food like cucumber have been a big hit lol. Even if they won't eat much of the plant, if it is potentially dangerous I...
So I'm considering trying a plant with my sonoran desert millipedes, and pothos tends to be pretty hardy. However have tried to eat everything I've ever put in their tank and am concerned about the effects of pothos if ingested since I've read about it being bad for dogs and cats.
It might be the weather, my desert millipedes are significantly more active during the summer when it's hot. It could be any number of reasons really, millipedes tend to (in my experience) vary their activity levels quite a bit.
I don't know how much you handle your millipedes during the day...
Is it a part of the exoskeleton or can you wipe it off with your finger?
When I first saw it I thought it looked like a poop stain from millipede diarrhea. I keep ivories too, so I'd like to stay updated incase there's anything I should know for my millipedes!
My ivories get diarrhea when I give them a lot of cucumber... I assume it is just because of a significantly higher amount of water in their diet. Of course I could be wrong, but all my millipedes seem healthy! I can't explain her behavior however.
Okay so, before the year ends I want to do a big redesign for my Florida Ivory Millipede habitat. Ideally it would be a planted tank, but I know of no plant that can coexist with my millipedes... Then I thought, what about moss? I don't mean just sphagnum moss, but other variates as well.
Has...
What sort of millipedes could I expect to find about 45 minutes of Atlanta?
What species would I find in the smokey mountains?
What species would I find in the Florida keys?
I think it would be fun to look for millipedes this summer, and am wondering what species I should expect to find...
So I caught two of my ivory millipedes yesterday doing something. They reared back on their hind legs and then smushed their upper bodies together, sometimes taking breaks to mess with their own front legs, sometimes messing with the others front legs. Are they mating? If so, should I expect...
After talking to some people here I think the millipedes snuck in on the leaves I put in my tanks, because there are millipedes in both my Florida ivories enclosure and my golden desert millipedes enclosure. That being said I have no idea what they are... if you do I'd be interested in knowing...
I will be moving my four Florida ivory millipedes into a larger enclosure with my two golden desert millipedes. I would like to get some more to join the party...
I think I'll be getting some brown desert millipedes, but after that I don't know...
I may get more ivories, because they're...
Hello! I am currently looking into other animals to add to my millipede terrarium, as it feels a bit empty at the moment.
It has two giant desert millipedes and I will be moving my four Florida Ivories in shortly. Aside from other millipedes I am curious about isopods...
My greatest enjoyment...
I'm looking into ways to make a realistic background for my millipedes. Using styrofoam would be the easiest for me, because I already have lots. I won't use it if its not safe!
Is there any way to treat styrofoam (concrete, some sealant) that renders it harmless? What sealants are usually...
I don't remember it saying anything about having to bake the leaves, or if they were already pasteurized. It did say to let them dry out before adding them to the enclosure, and I was to impatient so they were still slightly damp when I added them... so that's on me. I don't see anything in my...
