This feels like such a silly question, but is there anything harmful about feeding a tarantula and then cupping it and rehousing it? I have a bit of a mold problem in one of my adult spiders' enclosures. I haven't fed him in two weeks and normally would today, but I want to move him today as...
Oh sheesh! I'm doing some searching on here, and yeah, it looks like it might be. Might it be easier to get a better ID after a fresh molt? I'm so curious to see what that blue will look like after she gets new clothes.
She does do the butt raise my ockertis do, though. Is she possibly a...
Thank you so much for this info. I’m going to be adapting both my ockertis set ups so they’re more comfortable. Would it be the same for all in this genus? I have a blue Thrixopelma (not the cyaneolum, but it’s blue), and it seems a lot chunkier and terrestrial looking than my ockerti. I really...
Oh no. I thought I did the proper research. I have been keeping them terrestrially since I got them. Thanks for that info.
[e] I keep seeing “semi arboreal” when I search but I thought that didn’t really exist? I have my GBB set up “semi arboreally” and it seems to work for it, but is it okay...
The seller told me it’s not T cyaneoleum because she lacks the red hairs on her abdomen. Any idea of an ID? Not planning on breeding her, just wanted a blue Thrixopelma.
I just came home and saw one of my T ockerti like this. I don’t even know what to say. Is there any chance this will turn out well? I am So confused as to how it got this way; I thought terrestrial tarantulas molted on a molt mat on the ground. Thanks for any advice or input!
[edit] Feeling...
I’m a little in awe that nobody wants to out an animal abuser. I guess I’d like to make sure I’m not taking advice from or giving my business to a person who does that.
Thanks for all the help. I came home and saw she had super worm in her fangs. I think she dug it up, I’m hoping she didn’t fight it. She is casually happy dancing and strolling around the enclosure and pausing to focus on chewing. I would have waited awhile longer before feeding her; do I need...
Thanks, I think so too. She’s fully molted and turned back over. Thankful my mistake wasn’t fatal, now I’ll be neurotic forever about being absolutely sure a spider isn’t on its back before dropping stuff I.
Weird that nobody is cool with handling, but now we are allowing indoor/outdoor tarantulas with so much as a sideways glance! :-p
Thanks for returning this girl to the wild. I hope you enjoy her for many years.
I was feeding my Ts, and I swear my A genic hadn’t been showing signs of premolt. I noticed my mistake right away, but I ran downstairs to grab a stool since she’s a little high up on a shelf. I can’t find the worm and I’m afraid of digging around too much and disturbing her. I did crush the...
Thank you. The idea of putting her in the freezer keeps making me cry, but I would have. I feel much better about running a spider hospice (or possible rehab, but I’m trying not to entertain that thought) for her. I really appreciate your guidance on this. I can’t imagine what people did before...
I literally just stood up to take requested video and she is on her back again. :( If she rights herself and starts doing her sprints I will be sure to take a video that’s more than a couple seconds long.
Weird question, I know some of it comes from my anthropomorphism of my tarantulas...
Do tarantulas “rally” like people do? She keeps curling up and then will walk quickly (or quicker than she has been) around her enclosure. I don’t know if something is disturbing her, I am watching her without...
