You should never use heat source attached to ts enclosure or put under sun, it can easily kill your Ts
I only use high temp glue.
Yes I believe it was the tarsal claw, most likely the case. I imagine that's how they lose their leg on mesh as well
But again the glue was hardened last year so 🤷...
I've also never had an issue with it during 3 years of keeping Ts. The glue was applied last year. I don't know if the glue softens over long period of time but when I tried to take out the pedipalp it seemed to be sunk in quite well. Just like how mesh doesn't always pose threat, it probably...
I learned a new thing today.
I was going to feed my 2"~ P. metallica today but it seemed to be scared and ran into its vertical cork hide.
On the top of cork there was a bit of hot glue sticking out (dried months ago of course) and I saw a pedipalp lose and stuck on it after it ran into the...
No offense taken, thank you for your input. A lot of people did mention about humidity control and thats probably where it got me to the point. They apparently do become more active with more ambient humidity and maybe that theory is where people maybe reasoning it from. Some of things ive read...
I'm planning to keep an Ackie monitor and after building an 8'x2'x4' enclosure I'm questioning myself If I have put too much ventilation on the sides:
View from inside
From outside
Whole enclosure
I'll fill the substrate almost up to front barrier, so the ventilation should be close to the...
R for rated indeed
jokes aside, I believe Brachypelma has type I hair, they are categorized by the size i believe.
Fortunately Type I hair doesn't do anything to me.
Maybe staying at home during covid days closed up all the spores on my skin.
Mine usually climbs like that when I rehouse them, but seems like thats not the case.
Your substrate doesn't look moist so that isn't an issue either. (if not, please do keep your substrate dry for these species.
I think the best option is to rehouse it into a smaller appropriate enclosure as...
I've had a really bad gnat infestation after using two different natural potting mix, I would avoid these unless you can't keep certain plants alive.
Also, make sure you know whats used in the mix 100%.
To OP, everything seems good including your specimen, just keep the substrate dry and you...
Maybe if you are raising your MM into priest, maybe. :angelic:
Jokes aside, I'm not sure if I've read any journals regarding this subject to give you an insight.
However I usually keep my mm next to mfs of different species and haven't had any odd behaviours yet according to my observation.
I've had my Ts for only 3 years but during those time i made similar mistake where Surinam roach end up going missing, but haven't had them eating my Ts yet,
but i do hear from several people that their Ts being attacked so it probably is possible.
Since than I always crush the head of feeders...
Only poop wiping i have to do consistantly (about biweekly)is for my irminia and some other arboreals, others I do monthly as they all seems to be keeping their enclosure clean. if you use one of those razor scrapper it takes little effort.
I do spot cleaning once or twice a week after fed, as...
if you really want something like exo terra but cheap, I would take path of DIY with cheap custom cut glass and cheap mechanical parts.
this enclosures parts look crap but they are still prototype without polishing mechanical parts:
I do make multiple of these with 3D printer and cost me...
