Two of my Greaterhorned Baboons molted in mature males in the last week. I was really surprised to see how small they were when they matured. I have at least one other female who is a little larger than the two mature males. How large does the female have to be to mate? Thanks in advance.
There is a reptile show here every month that has some tarantula dealers and I hear the same comments at almost every show. Snakes and spiders probably rank pretty high on people's fears but it's just a matter of learning about another animal until the fear is gone and a respect is formed.
It might help to have someone else there to help you keep the two apart when they are done. I've mated my G. pulchra females several times and when they are done, my wife keeps the female back with a stick and I get the male out. We both work with the one we are responsible for and don't pay...
A few weeks ago, I was told that wild caught T. Blondi are "gassed" to get them to come out of their hole and the ones that are gassed can be expected to die within 6 months due to how they were caught. I never heard this before and thought I would check with all of you. Is this true???
I wouldn't trust nylon mesh and would probably get some screen from the hardware store that is used for windows. It's pretty cheap and would help me sleep better knowing it's metal instead of nylon. :)
I haven't checked lately but I know they sell it in rolls. I'm not sure if they sell...
The whole spider isn't black, just the carapace. I hope the female is premolt because she hasn't been eating much lately and I'd really like to confirm she is a she before putting the mature male in the enclosure with her. All the roseas look the same with the exception of the carapace...
With the purchase of a mature male this weekend, we now have 5 G Rosea Ts. Three of them were bought unsexed but one was sold to us as a female. She (hopefully) hasn't molted yet so we can't be 100% sure. Our plans are to try to get an egg sac from the female but my son noticed something that...
Since you need an air pump anyway, I wonder why something like this can't be made with an empty 2 liter bottle with an air stone at the bottom. With one line going into the bottle and connecting to an air stone and another line going out of the top to the enclosure. I don't see why they want...
I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this but, if not, I guess it'll be moved.
I am going to Atlanta in a few weeks and was wondering if there were any good places to buy tarantulas? Thanks in advance.
I have a pink toe who's leg span isn't quite the size of a dime. It began to molt 2 days ago and got stuck. It has 2 legs (on one side) stuck and both pedipalps also stuck. All stuck parts are pretty much still in the old skin and one leg, that did come out, is not straight. I put some water...
botar was there a few months ago.
There is also a show in Cleveland which is usually the day after the Columbus show. I haven't been there though so I don't know if there are any Ts there.
I usually go every month to the show here in Columbus. The amount of Ts depends on who is there. Usually, there is at least one person who has a table of Ts but I've seen up to 4 different tables (one including a seller on this board) with Ts - which was nice. The prices are pretty good but...
When my son said he wanted a tarantula, I told him to start reading as much as he could and then we would catch a wolf for him to take care of prior to getting a T. He had it for several months and it even laid an egg sac while he had it. It grew pretty fast and was an interesting spider to...
